Chapter Three

BLAKE’S P.O.V “Where the hell have you been?” my brother seethed as I walked into the living room. “Hello Kieran” my voice dripping in sarcasm. “Brother, I am not like you. You go to the gym to get rid of your frustration while I go and take a nice long walk and spend some time in the park.” I said sitting down on the couch. “Not in the mood for your sarcasm right now Blake” he said rubbing his temples in frustration. “Would you like a cup of coffee Blake?” Missy, our cook asked. “That would be lovely” I smiled. “How about you Kieran?” she asked looking at my brother. “You know how I love it Missy” “You wanted… to talk about Jace” God knows why I stuttered. “We found out something about what happened on the day Jace was murdered” “What” “Sorry for interrupting you two. Blake, Kieran your coffee” “Thanks Missy” we said in unison and she walked away. “Can you already tell me what the hell you even found out?” I was getting frustrated with the silence that came from him. “Jace had a girlfriend and he was going to marry her the day he was murdered.” “You are still talking about our brother right?” I asked. “Trust me, I was as shocked as you are right now when I got to know” “Who was the girl?” “Abigail West, daughter of Hayden West and Cheryl Gray” “Wait, Jace was dating the daughter of the guy who was in charge of Mom’s case back then” I questioned. “The very same” “Holy s**t” I cursed. “Dad found proof that Hayden’s family had something to do with Jace’s killing” “Are we sure about that?” “We have hundred percent solid proof Blake” he sighed. “Completely sure” I don’t know why I was being a bit hesitant in believing whatever my brother was telling. I might be getting the closure that I have always craved for so that I could move on from the pain. Be free knowing that my brother’s killer got what they deserved. They are suffering for what they had done. But why was a part of me refusing to believe that. “Yes” he nodded. “Look, I know you might be feeling really confused right now. We all are getting the closure we wanted for years now. And now when it’s just an arms distance away, we might be wondering is this even true or is it just an illusion. They killed our brother Blake and they will pay for what they did.” His voice filled with anger and hatred. “So what’s the plan we have to take down our brother’s killer” *** HOPE’S P.O.V It was kind of a normal Sunday morning in Willow Creek, surprisingly. I had to come down to the bookstore very early and take care of some issues. I think I might have drunk up to four or five cups of coffee by now. But who cares. I groaned as I carried a pile of books to arrange it into its designated shelves. There were a few customers at this time. Some browsing through mystery, romance, thriller and all the other novels whereas some subtly lurking around the e*****a section. I chuckled and continued doing my work. I was helping a customer find a book when the bell above the door chimed and someone walked in. Never in a million years did I imagine, the self centered, arrogant b***h, Samantha Henderson, owner of Nightingale Beauty and Fashion, will step a foot inside this bookstore. God, I hate her with every living cell in my damn body. Why hate her you might ask? She stole my best friend away from me. My ex BFF, Aura loves fashion with all her life and soul. She used to work at a local store before she got an internship at Nightingale’s. I was really supportive and happy for her, like any best friend would be. Then one day at a gala organized by the Henderson’s, our friendship kind of changed forever. Aura started dating Samantha’s cousin, Dylan a few months after she started her internship. Every single living soul in this city knows what kind of a player Dylan is. So naturally when she told me about their relationship, I was against it because I cared for her. I didn’t want to see my best friend hurt. Seeing her happy, made me happy too. So I tried being happy for her and Dylan. Now back to where everything changed. The Henderson’s Gala. The night started out pretty great. And I was talking to Dylan, making an attempt to know him for the sake of Aura. For a split second, I thought maybe I judged the book by its cover. Curse my mind for thinking that Dylan could be a faithful boyfriend. I was a bit tipsy that night and he took advantage of that. He tried to sleep with me. I could remember yelling at him to get of me. I felt so helpless in that moment. With whatever strength I had left within me, I kicked him in his balls and ran away from him. I ran to look for my best friend. I ran to my best friend hoping she would understand me, hoping that she would help me. But I guess she was blinded my love to see the truth her best friend told her. I remember walking back home so broken and numb. No one knows how much I cried that night. You know what they say, nothing hurts more when your best friend turns into a stranger. “Is she lost or something?” the customer I was talking to asked. “Perhaps the route to Nightingale changed suddenly this morning” We laughed. I let her get back to the book she was looking for. “Hope” Samantha smirked as she came closer to me, Aura right behind her. “Samantha, did the way to Nightingale suddenly change out of the blue this morning?” I asked as I was arranging some books into the shelves. “I didn’t come here to deal with your attitude Hope” she replied with sass. “I came here because I wanted a book” “Didn’t realize you had time to read a book in between the time you spent destroying people’s lives and relationships” “That’s enough Hope” Aura mildly yelled. “Listen you b***h, I can make your life a living hell within seconds” Samantha seethed. “I would like to see you try” I smirked. “Let’s go Aura. We have better things to do than even spend one more minute with her” she said as she stormed out with Aura. “Good riddance” I sighed. Lyra: I am already here Me: Give me a few minutes. Will be there soon. *** That’s another chapter down. Phew. Had a lot of fun writing it. Hope you will have a lot of fun reading it as well. Don’t forget to vote/like and comment.
