While Serenity was taking a shower, I pulled Zander aside to tell him my plan.
"I was trying to propose to Serenity when she was kidnapped and at dinner, I would like to complete the proposal, if you do not mind," I said.
"Of course, not. Is there anything I can do to help you?" he asked.
After a moment's thought, I nodded and said, "If you could help me to set it up, I would be forever grateful to you."
From there, we walked off to his office on the third floor to discuss our plans for dinner tonight privately so that there was hopefully no way that Serenity would catch on.
Serenity's POV
As I was in the shower with the water running down, washing away all the accumulated dirt and grime, I was thinking about Damien and how I could have lost him or any chance of being with him, and I knew that I couldn't let that happen. I knew that I didn't want to live without him nor did I want to die, knowing that he didn't know how I truly felt. As I was not a wolf, I knew what I was feeling. Being as strong as it is, wasn't their mate bond doing. No, I developed these feelings because I truly do love him. Then I came up with a plan of my own. Tonight at dinner, even if it embarrasses me, I am going to flip the roles, so to speak, and propose to Damien!
He was standing in the middle of the garden with his back to me in a complete black tux. Even his back was delicious. I gulped down the siliva that accumulated in my mouth and walked up to him, clearing my throat.
"I have something for you," we both said at the same time, then giggled, "but first I gotta ask you something."
I shook my head, chuckling, then looked at him stubbornly, "I gotta do mine first or I'll loose my nerve," I said as he said, "you go first."
I nodded, taking a deep breath, then asked, "Will you marry me?" while presenting my make-shift ring.
His eyes got big momentarily, then he started to laugh.
"What is it? I really love you and need you to know if you don't like me. I understand. If the ring is too ugly, I can get you a new one. I just need time."
"No, I love you too and the ring is fine, really its just," he began, then pulled out a ring, "I was going to ask you to marry me."
When he finished, I dropped my little makeshift ring and placed my hand on my mouth in shock as happy tears started running down my face.
"Yes. Yes. Yes. A thousand times, yes!" I shouted and wrapped my arms around his frame.
With that thought in mind, I jumped out of the shower and quickly dried off. I then rapped a towel around my waist and walked into the room to find a beautiful cold-shouldered green ball gown and a little note lying beside it. I picked up the note and read it.
"Please wear this gown and meet me in the rose garden behind the packhouse. -D-"
With a smile she placed the note back down and slipped the gown on.
Then, she grabbed some rope she had found on the dresser, hoping Zander wouldn't be mad, she twisted the rope into a ring and rushed down to find the garden. The problem, however, was she didn't know where the garden was, so she was wandering around aimlessly until Zander bumped into her.
"Whoa what are you looking for?" he asked me.
"Damien asked me to meet him in the rose garden," I answered.
"Oh, I can show you."
"Thank-you," I said, and then remembered the ring and showed Zander, "I hope you don't mind, but I used some rope I found in the room to make a ring."
"Why?" he asked.
"Because I don't want to loose Damien and I'm not sure he realizes this. So, I...I plan on proposing to him tonight," I explained shyly.
Zander chuckled a bit at that and then shook his head.
"What?" I asked.
"Nothing," he said, "I just never heard of a female proposing to a male before."
He then led me to the rose garden where Damien was waiting for me.
