The ball

A/N Guys, there will be a scene here that may trigger some people. I will mark it with Asterix so that you know where it starts and can skip it, but I will try to keep out as many details as possible without making the story suffer. Serenity's POV I couldn't believe what was happening. I spent the last two hours getting pampered and prepped and now I'm standing in front of this door-sized mirror looking like some princess from a fairy-tale. My long red hair was left down and wavy as it fell down my back, complimented perfectly by the burgundy-colored, cold shoulder velvet dress with a sweetheart neckline. The dress hugged me in just the right spots to show off my hourglass figure. The dress was paired with a pair of black heels and an emerald pendant that complimented my blue eyes. Quona decided to leave my makeup to just some lip gloss so that my freckles could still be seen sprinkled on my nose and cheeks. Honestly, the only thing missing was a crown and I would look just like a princess. I was startled from my musings by a gentle knock on the door. "Why are they knocking? This is their place." I thought as I moved to open up the door to the breathtaking view of the prince. He was wearing a dark green tux with a burgundy tie with a green mask. He smiled, causing my heart to flutter and held out a red mask with green feathers for me. With a smile, I went to take it, only for the prince to spin me around and tie it for me. I lowered my head slightly and muttered a little, "thank-you," before accepting the hand he held out for me. I have been dancing for the last hour and, finally, the prince has left my side to go "talk" with the Alpha. Or so he says. I think it has something to do with the scar on my right thigh as he got angry when it happened. I was lost in my own thoughts while heading out to a balcony for fresh air when I bumped into someone wearing a navy tux. I looked up to see who it was. Just to see Max, one of the few people nice to me but the Beta's son. "S...s....sorry." I muttered. "Serenity, is that you?" he asked cautiously. "Y...yes, sir." "You look gorgeous but a little flustered. Care for a drink?" he asked, though he seemed a little hesitant. "Of course, I would love a drink. Thank-you," I said, thinking that he was hesitant because he didn't know if I was allowed here and didn't want me to get into trouble again. I took the drink from him with a smile and began to sip it as I usually wasn't allowed the wine. ******************************************After a little, I finished the wine while chatting and laughing with Max on the balcony. "Wait a second, how did we get here? Oh, we walked. Why is my head spinning?" I thought while placing my hand on my head in an attempt to keep the world still. "Serenity, are you OK?" "I...I think I might have drunk too much wine. That was my third glass." I whispered embarrassingly and sat down. Max chuckled, "Serenity, you shouldn't drink so much on your first time drinking. You could get hurt or worse" "Max, it's hot. Could you go tell the prince I am going to go....." I started as Max started to walk up to me. "Come on Serenity, I'll take you somewhere to cool off, then go tell the prince." I began feeling uncomfortable as he led me outside and towards the cabins on the other side of the garden, I assume, because he didn't want anyone to see me drunk, so I didn't get into trouble. By the time we got to the door, however, he grabbed me and pulled me to his chest and started kissing me. I stupidly tried to protest and push him away from me, to no avail. He just used his claws to tear the fabric of my dress. I decided to bite his lip, in an attempt to get him to stop assaulting my lips, and screamed as loud as I could. ****************************************** Damien must have been watching us because he suddenly showed up after my scream and noticed the boy was on me. With a growl, he yanked the beta up and tossed him away, but the damage was done. My dress was warning, making me feel like I was soiled now, and I was already on the floor, in the doorway of the cabin. The sight mixed with the smell of it seemed to bewitch Damien as he started stalking towards me. "W....what do you want with me?" I asked as I scrambled back further into the cabin. Damien didn't reply. He just kept slowly walking towards me as if I was his prey. "I... I am warning you. Not o...one more step." I half-hearted threatened while grabbing a candlestand from the coffee table in the middle of the room and wishing I didn't sound so weak and vulnerable, while I continued to crawl back until my back bumped into the wall. He chuckled and shook his head with a smirk on his lips. The next second, he was in front of me and his eyes flashed to a shade of gold while his face contorted into a predatory look. Quietly, I looked into his eyes and, as if in a trance, dropped my makeshift "weapon" and reached my hand up. Placing my palm gently onto his cheek while getting up onto my tippytoes and leaning towards him. He leaned down to kiss me deeply and I reciprocated it hungrily, as if this very kiss could keep me alive forever. Then he pulled back and shook his head before disappearing. "Sweet flower, stay away from me" was whispered, as if from the wind, surrounding me and cutting me to my very core. I shook my head and ran into the room I had gotten ready in earlier, crying. Soon Quona appeared and gasped as if shocked. "What happened princess?" she asked, but I wouldn't, no couldn't, answer. I was still sobbing so badly it was hard to breathe. "Come, let's get you a bath." I couldn't believe what was happening. I spent the last couple of hours crying while soaking in a lavender and vanilla bath. I think I had finally reached a point where I had no tears left to cry and I was numb. I didn't even realize the water got cold until Quona came and pulled me out fussing that I was shivering. The whole scene kept replaying in my head, but tragically, it wasn't Max's betrayal that hurt me the most. No, it was the Prince's words. Each time he told me to stay away from him, after that magical kiss broke another small piece of my heart. I silently allowed Quona to take a bit of my blood, then dress me in a long black night gown and brush my hair, twisting it up into a messy bun. She then led me over to the bed and I laid down and allowed her to tuck me in tight and shut off the lights before she went into a different room to sleep. Finally, I decided to shut off my brain and let the darkness of sleep take me away from this place.
