Damien made the doctor release me just after dinner with a promise to call the doctor if anything concerning me happened, because he couldn't bare to sleep without me nor could he sleep another night in the hospital. He hated the smell of hospitals almost as much as he hated people who put up a front to try to stay on his good side, he claimed, but I thought it had more to do with the chemical smell. I said I didn't want to be around anyone in the pack right now, so he took me straight to the cabin we were staying in. After quickly showering and changing clothes, we both climbed into bed and drifted off to sleep.
I woke up to the sounds of birds' songs in the trees outside and the bright sun shining through the window. For once, I slept in and didn't have to fear being punished for it, but that wasn't what disturbed me. No, what disturbed me was the missing body heat that should have been beside me.
I knew I had fallen asleep snuggled into Damien's arms, but I did not feel him now and simply cracking my eyes open and looking around the room confirmed my suspicion. Damien was nowhere in the room.
In a panic, I jumped out of bed and began searching around the room but there was no sign of him anywhere there, so I went out to the hallway and looked around the rest of the cabin. After searching around but finding nothing, I went back to the room and plopped down on the bed in a huff. That's when I noticed the neatly folded letter on his pillow. I curiously picked it up and turned it around to show my name neatly written in beautifully flowing script in big letters on it.
Upon opening the letter, I saw that it read:
Serenity,
I wish I could have stayed in bed with you all day, but alas, I just could not. I hope that I did not scare or upset you too much. If you look on your bedside table, there is some fruit, eggs, and sausage for you along with some orange juice. Once you are done, I want you to enjoy a soak in the tub. I have plans for us tonight and will see you as soon as I am finished with some business I had to take care of.
Forever yours,
Damien
PS. I have a package coming for you at roughly 2 PM.
After I finished reading it, I looked at the clock and noticed it was almost noon and dropped the note in a hurry.
I decided to save time by soaking while I ate my food. Time seemed to fly by me because before I knew it, it was already 1:30 and I had to quickly get dry so that I could be decent whenever the package arrived.
By the time I finished throwing on a shirt and some sweatpants and throwing my hair into a messy bun, there was a knock on the door. I peaked out and saw 4 boxes and about 8 bags of stuff. I know Damien told me to expect a package but I had no idea it would be this much stuff.
Think of the devil and he will appear. As I was slipping out to get the stuff, mentally berating the egotistical prick for sending me so much stuff that I would have to carry on alone, said prick showed up with a satisfied smirk. Once he caught sight of my annoyed expression, however, his smirk turned into an embarrassed grin and he started nervously rubbing the back of his neck.
"Damien, what is all of this?" I asked, trying to remain calm and impassive.
"Well, I heard you didn't really have anything so I got you some clothes and other things I thought you might need or like. I also wanted to take you on a date but knew you might be uncomfortable if you didn't have anything but your work clothes. Plus, eventually you will need to come to the castle with me and I wanted to spoil you," he rambled.
" OK, but next time ask me first and take me shopping with you. I get you were just trying to make me feel loved, but there are other ways to do so love," She said and kissed his cheek, "Now help me get this stuff inside."
He helped me get everything inside and organized. He even helped me pack up everything I wouldn't use in the next two days so it would be ready when we left to go to the castle. After a few hours of organizing and packing, I remembered he said he wanted to take me on a date.
"Hey, where are we going on this date you mentioned earlier?"
"I can't tell you, it's a surprise."
"OK, well, when are we going on this date?"
After looking at the clock, Damien replied, "In 30 minutes, so go get ready and wear something nice."
"That shouldn't be hard as half of what you bought was nice dresses," I thought as I went into the closet to pick out what I would wear. I quickly decided on a black spaghetti strap bodycon dress that stopped right above my knees and a pair of matching slippers. I let my hair cascade down my back and opted not to wear any makeup. When I stepped out of the closet, I spotted Damien dressed in a button-up shirt and slacks facing out of the window. I honestly couldn't help but to love the way his shirt hugged every single muscle on his body.
As if feeling my heated gaze travel down his body, he turned and looked at me, audibly swallowing as his eyes darkened with lust.
"You look amazing, little flower," he said, and I smiled as I looked up into his eyes.
"So do you, my prince. But, alas, I was told we were going on a date and it would be a shame if we had to reschedule it. She must wait to give all these lust-filled gazes to each other," I said, then walked out the door.
Damien drove me around town, stopping here and there for different things at first. He bought me practically anything my eyes fell on for more then five seconds. He even took me to the movies. By the time all this was done, it was 4 PM and I told Damien I was getting hungry.
He then drove another two hours south to take me to a little picnic area on the beach, which at first annoyed me. It was now 6PM and the sun was just setting on the horizon. When we arrived, I looked around with a look of utter surprise on my face and a happy gleam in my eyes.
There were my favorite blue and green rose petals all over the table and ground, blue candles in elegantly carved crystalline holsters, and soft, romantic music playing.
"How did you know?" I asked softly.
"A magician never shares his secrets," Damien replied with a mischievous grin on his face, causing me to giggle lightly before he led me to the picnic table.
When we sat down, a man dressed as a waiter brought us each a glass of wine. His flute was clear, mine, however, was blue. I went to take a sip of the cool liquid when something hit my teeth, causing me to spit out my drink along with whatever it was.
When I looked back up towards him, Damien was kneeling down in front of me, holding out the ring that I had just spit out.
"Serenity, I know we have only known each other a short time physically, but I feel like I have known you for an eternity...." he had started just as it seemed like a very thick and smokey mist surrounded us. As panic started to settle in my heart, evil cackling surrounding us made my heart plummet into my stomach and the sound of the table flipping over next to me made me feel like I couldn't breathe from anxiety. The mist was so thick, I couldn't see anything. Not even if it was right in front of my own face. Then, suddenly, everything went silent, black, and numb all at once.
