It had been four days and Serenity still had not woken up. Damien felt like he was dying inside every time he went back to the hospital wing and she had not woken up yet or opened her eyes before he had to leave again for his never-ending duties. He had already sent Quona back to the castle but he refused to leave without Serenity.
He finally managed to get the Wizard King to meet with Max to discuss what they could do about the dark witches targeting the pack. Max reorganized the pack and began implementing laws that safe guard and help the servants. H***, he even got his parents excited to meet his mate, but that's the problem. None of that mattered to him because his mate wasn't awake to see it.
Damien sat in the chair beside her bed and grabbed her hand, just like he had done at least a million times since she had almost died, and sighed. After leaning his forehead against hers, a lone tear slipped down his cheek and he whispered, "Please, Serenity, don't leave me. I need you to wake up, Mate."
Meanwhile, Serenity, who by all appearances was in a coma in the hospital wing, sees herself in a beautifully decorated tower.
Serenity's POV
"Where am I? Am I dead?" Serenity thought, only to be answered by a chuckle from someone she couldn't see. Suddenly, Hecate appeared in front of her, causing Serenity to gasp.
"W....who are y....you?" Serenity nervously asked.
"Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. Child that question is of no consequence as of now. But, to answer your other questions, you are in my room and no, you are not dead, you are simply asleep while the poison completely leaves your system and your body heals from the damage done."
"How do you know so much about me but I don't even know your name."
"Child, you know my name as it runs through your veins. And as to answer how I know so much, simply, I am a goddess. To be more specific, I am the Goddess that created your kind."
"Hecate!"
"Bingo, now to answer that question that just popped into your head, I brought you hear to warn you, my child."
"Warn me about what?"
"Now, that is most definitely the question you should be asking me. First off, your life, though it will now have love, will not get easier. People want you and won't stop at nothing to get you and the same can be said for your mate. Second, this won't be the last attempt on your life. And third, your Mate is in danger."
"What do you mean, my lady?"
"I'm sorry, Serenity. I cannot tell you more. Even if I was allowed, I regret to say, your time here is coming to an end. Just remember, when the time comes and it seems like all is lost. Call on me and I will guide you," Hecate said, but it seemed as if both the image of her and her voice were getting further and further as she got closer to the end. This was soon replaced with a voice that seemed familiar to Serenity, but she couldn't place it.
"Please, Serenity, don't leave me. I need you to wake up," the voice said, which caused her heart to squeeze painfully.
"Who is that?" she thought and a voice she had never heard before said, "Your mate," before a beautiful blonde, childlike woman appeared.
"Who are you?"
"I am Selene, the moon goddess that all wolves worship," the girl replied, and Serenity bowed, causing Selene to giggle, "stand up child. I have pulled you here to give you a gift. Your goddess made you a gift but didn't ensure you had what you needed, so I am gifting you with the first ever Lycan spirit, Dalia. Besides, with your mate, you will need her. And a warning before I allow you to go back to your mate, not all of your kind truly want to help you. Some just want to use you." She finished before vanishing and leaving Serenity by herself with a pure white lycan that had bright blue eyes.
Next thing she knew, the lycan disappeared and Serenity heard the voice of who she now knew was her mate asking her to wake up and the voice of whom she assumed was her lycan telling her it was time.
Suddenly, Serenity heard the beep of her heart monitor and slowly opened her eyes only to hiss and closed them again to the bright glare of the room. She reopened them slowly and looked around.
She saw the heart monitor she was hooked up to and the many wires connected to her, then she saw a window. Slowly, her eyes scanned the room until they landed on her mate, who had obviously fallen asleep as he watched over her. He looked warned down and broken and it broke her heart to see him like that and know that she was the cause. She slowly reached her hand to touch his hair and when she went to say his name only a croak came out of her dry, parched mouth, but it was still enough to stir Damien awake.
"S...Serenity?" he asked, as if he was afraid saying her name would make her vanish or fall back to sleep.
As her throat was still dry, she decided to answer with a nod, causing him to smile for the first time in nearly five days now.
After a moment, it dawned on him that Serenity must be thirsty, so he shouted to the nurse that passed her door.
"Serenity is awake! Quickly, bring her some water and get the doctor."
The nurse quickly followed his orders and brought her a jug of water and a glass.
With shaky hands, Serenity poured herself a glass of water and no sooner did she finish that glass than the doctor and Max came running into the hospital wing.
While Max caught Serenity up on what was going on in the pack, the doctor fussed over checking every aspect of Serenity to ensure she was fully healed and Damien's eyes never left her. After the others finally left with the promise Serenity could be discharged from the hospital the next day as long as everything seemed like it was healing properly, Serenity remembered the ominous warnings she received and became nervous.
"What’s wrong, dear?" Damien asked.
"I...I honestly don't know where to begin, Damien. "
"Anywhere. You are my mate and, as such, you can tell me anything."
With this, Serenity sighed and thought a moment before nodding and proceeding to tell Damien everything she saw while he was praying to the moon goddess to bring her back. From Hecate's ominous warnings to Salene's gift and warning. By the time she finished, Damien's fists were clenched and he growled. "I will kill anyone who even thinks about harming a hair on your head, Serenity. This, I promise you."
