A Proposal

934 Words
Aurora's POV "Aurora?!" Henry near squeaked from behind me. The shock caused his voice to break. The momentary shock on Edwards's face gave me satisfaction. The way his face gently shifted to interest caught my eye. I had heard he was a fan of the unexpected. After all, he was the son of one of the most powerful packs and held his own territory. His life was a lot more smooth sailing than I think he would like it to be. I was hoping my actions would catch his attention and allow me to free my pack members from the situation. "It's a good proposal. I may even take you up on the offer." He's face lit up with a smile that was becoming very familiar to me. His eyes were focused completely on me. It was clear that Henry didn't agree. He yanked my wrist in front of him quickly. The force made my ankle twist in my heels and nearly knocked me over. Suddenly, a gust of wind blew my hair upwards, and a grey figure appeared next to me instantly. The hand quickly released my wrist. I managed to glance over my shoulder to see Edward grasping onto Henry's wrist. No matter how Henry tried to move Edward's grasp stopped him sharply. It felt like all this happened in only a second. Edward was surprisingly strong. I had seen how strong Harry could be. His wolf was very strong for his age. But he was fully restrained by Edward with just one hand. "Alpha Edward, What are you doing?” I had never seen Harry look like this. His expression was a mix of fear and anger. He looked ugly, monstrous. Glancing into the crowd I spod Daisy, pale with fear and wishing she never attended this party. Good. She deserves to be afraid. "I accept this lady's proposal," Edward shouted to the crowd. "Never lay your hands on my wife-to-be again." He barked at Henry before throwing him down in front of the crowd. Many of the guests gasped around the hall. Although no one would dare say anything. It was a great shame for an Alpha to be thrown by another Alpha in public. Edward was so unaffected by throwing Henry that he even took the time to tidy his sleeves before looking at me. A hand appeared in front of me in a gentlemanly position as an offer to take his arm. Looking up his long and powerful fingers, I came to meet a wonderfully smiling face. The gentle fragrance from his unbuttoned shirt surprised me. I'm not sure why but I never expected him to have good taste in perfume. As a daughter of an Alpha, I was well-trained in ladylike manners. I lifted my skirt gently and dipped into a curtsy, then gently placed my hand into his. He gently held my hand and brought it to his lips. The kiss he pressed there was soft and delicate. But as soon as it began it ended. He moved his face away slowly. I have to say that his face matched with his gentle bow and kiss was incredibly pleasing to the eye. Just as I thought he was going to hold on to my hand flirtatiously. He politely let go and made a gesture towards the door. The guards who were originally blocking the door separated quickly. Forming two neat rows with a space in the middle for us to walk down. "Do you really want to do this, Aurora Frost!" Henry shouted as he stood up being supported by Beta John. His voice echoed in the silent hall, and every memory with him flooded into my mind. I couldn't connect that gentle, decent man, with this hysterical bastard who was standing in front of me. "Henry Cooper, our relationship ends here. I am so disappointed in you and your actions." I spoke calmly but coldly. My volume was perfect for all in the room to hear. Then I strode out of the room with my head held high. As I passed my pack members I whispered to then to get themselves out of the room quickly and not to worry about me. Edward followed behind me with his Beta, not caring that I was walking in front of him. As we were about to reach the door, a figure in red caught my eye. I turned and caught the eyes of Daisy. She stood looking like she was the victim in the situation. She even had the nerve to look at me and silently question why I was doing something so improper. "I hope you never find Henry in his study with another woman. Just warning you best friends aren't off limits." Daisy couldn't keep the pitiful look on her face for very long after that. Her eyes turned dark as her face twisted in anger. She looked like she wished she could make me disappear. So this is the real her. Gone was my amazing best friend who shared jokes, movie nights and shopping trips with me. This is who she truly is. I took a deep breath, looked away from her and stepped out of the hall. From now on, everything about the Nightfall Pack would have nothing to do with me anymore. This was a new starting point for me. Now, I think it's about time I see this legendary Timberwolf Pack. I chose to go with Edward for a few reasons. To save my pack mates, to irritate Henry and to learn how this powerful pack was different from my own.
