CHAPTER 17: PHOBIA

1572 Words
POV: Eris At that very moment, I know we are in the jaw of unnatural danger. My body then remembered the fear I felt in my dreams realizing the once dream was now a reality. The terror I experienced on those nightmares suddenly became comical compare to the horror I now feel. The wolf in front of me pinned his eyes to me ready to attack. James quickly grab my arm and hide me on his broad shoulders. His fists are firmly holding a huge long rock, 'What? He will fight this creature? Is he mad?' "James.." my voice cracked when I looked around and realized there're three other wolves behind this dark brown angry wolf. This four or five feet tall predator looks like the leader of the group waiting for his command. My mind again reminded me about my grey wolf's dream which was bigger than this animal in front of us but this is reality; both running and fighting are certain defeat and death. Their leader growled and the remaining three also do the frightening sound. My lungs started to malfunction and my heart do the opposite. It beats doubly than normal but with insufficient oxygen as I felt giddy. I leaned closer to James as I tried to catch my own breath. James looked at me and I nodded as saying him 'I'm alright' then I exhaled deeply. I bent my knees and reached the stone big enough to give confidence that I could fight back. The wolf swiftly dashed and jumped to James. But James, instinctively, ducked down and hit the huge creature on its head that cause to a failure of might be a first injury of the man. The other wolves also ran towards us, attacking a helpless prey like us. He then swiftly throw the stone at the second nearest wolf running closer to us and the other one was pierced by a dagger he threw at its shoulder. The leader of the wolf at my peripheral view looked at me and swiftly flew forward at me. "Inside the car!" James shouted and then with that split seconds of interruption on his battle, he was bitten and thrown away to the down slope and hit a tree. "No!" I shouted with wide eyes of shock and ... ... I can't do anything, my feet won't move and body stiffened. 'Eris, you need to run!' my mind shouted at me and I force myself to ran though I don't know if I'm running enough to escape this monster. Thankfully, I managed to get inside the car that gives me a feeling of temporary protection and shelter from these raging beasts. It is not the time to be defeated by my fear. I need to calm down and compel myself to breathe and stop shaking. No longer surprising, they shook the car easily and slammed the metal vehicle. I just hope that some help, someone, anyone may come to help me before they creased this car or opened it enough for them to torn and feast upon my meat and blood. Then, out of a sudden, a gun shot was heard all over that made me a bombshell. I looked where it came from. It was Adam riding on a black motorcycle with a Glock 19 Gen 4 on his right while his left on the throttle. The next thing I knew one of the beast fell down the ground and bleed. The other three looked at Adam and ran towards him on a simultaneous attack, growled and snarled. Adam, then swiftly, angled his bike a little and jumped letting the motor glide on the earth. Another gunshot then another and again. Likewise, to what happen to the first, the second wolf collapsed to the ground but it still tried to stand up failed. "Leave him alone and I will let you all live!" its not a shout but you can feel intimidation and dominance on his voice. Still pointing his gun to them, the four beast seem like they understand him and stopped on their ambush. They slowly step backwards and help their two comrades to stand by biting on their neck and they walked peacefully until they gone inside the woods. Adam rushed to me and I struggled to open the car for it is now ruined because of the blow from the extraordinary wolves. He then pulled open the door on just few tries and I get out unharmed. Still shaking a bit and breathing hardly, I fix myself to show him I'm okay. Adam check my arms to see if I have bruised or anything. "You okay?" he asked and I quickly nodded and smiled placidly. How I wish to hug and cry on his chest and shoulders. However, I am very thankful for this guy for saving us. Yeah.... us!.. James.. I almost forgot! "James... He's hurt" I stuttered and put gently his hands down and walked as quickly as I could though I still feel weakened by the trauma. "Oh my go..." I put my hand to my forehead and then pulled my hair on seeing the kind man who tried to protect me lying unconscious to the cold ground. I instinctively, acted on rescuing him but a strong hand held me, "Let me" he said with concerned eyes like a crystal glittering in care and succor. *** POV: Adam Eris lost consciousness while Tyler drove his car whom he brought after he repaired it. Him and James were admitted to the Lakeside Hospital. "He experienced Post traumatic attack; hyperventilation, palpitation, dizziness, shaking and tremors are some of its symptoms" Dr. Brown said explained. "It means.." I said as if my heart crushed suddenly. "Yes, his brain erased his memory of what happened but it doesn't mean he will entirely forget the fear and trauma" he said....."But he's okay now, he just needs some rest" he tapped my shoulder and excuse himself to exit our conversation. "Thank you" I extend. I never thought Eris experienced all these hardships, all these years. I never should have waited this long. I should have came back sooner. *** Eris woke up, looked up at me and "How is he?" is his first word. His voice still cracking in worry and fear. "He's still unconscious but the doctor said he's okay. Tyler is coming and will take care of him" I replied. I put my hand to his left shoulder and felt he's still again trembling a bit. He sat down again and looked away. "You?...Ahm how's your feeling? Are you really no longer felt dizzy or weak" I then asked. He just smiled timidly and weakly and... "Where are you going?" I asked again. Without answer he stood up, out of the bed, walked the room and "I want to see him" he pleaded with his concerned eyes. "Eris, don't worry too much. He's fine" I said holding his hand and tried to lead him back on his bed. "But he saved me AND protected me... and I did nothing for him" he stuttered looking at me, his eyes were telling me of sadness and worry. Then tears rolled down his cheeks. "Look at me, It's not your fault, huh, it's not your fault" I prisoned his cheeks with my both palms and wiped the water running from the two springs of kindness. *** Few hours later.... "Eris, we can leave now" I suggested as soon as I made sure James is alright. It was a certain open rebellion... directly waging to start a war against the pack. How dare they frankly harm the Alpha's Luna? He still uttered nothing but sighs and uneasiness. Now, how can I explain to him that his bodyguard, the one that saved him, the man that loves him was like those beast that attacked him? How can I tell the truth if this will be an additional fear and trauma for him? This is crazy, I am going crazy! I want to tell him all. How I long to tell him everything but whenever I was about to tell him the truth something always happens. Fate has always a plan to hindered us from getting closer. "We'll never leave 'til he's awake" he calmly said few moments after. What is he thinking? 'Eris, can you tell me what is on your mind? Please tell me what can I do to help you ease or lessen whatever you are feeling right now' I hate this feeling, this feeling that I can't do anything for my mate. Tyler came and brought a snacks and hot coffee. "Alpha, is he okay?" referring to Eris. I nodded and he then handed him the cup. "Uhmm, Don't worry, Lun... Eris, he's a tough guy. He'll be alright" Tyler said comforting my mate. Eris don't move or even respond like he heard or saw no one. Few moments later after laboratory test and scan, the doctor came toward us and, "He'll be alright. He just get some bruises and swelling and thankfully no bones were fractured. He'll wake up anytime soon" he said. And we expressed gratitude to the kind physician. Eris curved a faint smile on his lips. "See, he's okay so there's nothing to be worried about" Tyler smiled on Eris. Eris then walked out of our conversation and I immediately followed him and tapped Tyler's shoulder as a bid goodbye.
