Love on Fire

After Saphire came home from school she realized that her family is acting very strange. " Hi. Aren't you supposed to be at school, sweetie?" asked dad as he stared at Saphire. " Um, no dad. It's Friday, I always come at this time." Saphire said trying to break eye contact. " Strange, that is not what I observed. Also when is your birthday? I just want to make sure." " It's tomorrow?" Suddenly Saphire's dad, Robert, left the room. Freaked out, Saphire went to her room. She then passed her brother, Charvin, who was staring at the corner of the room. " Charvin?" she asked. " Are you okay?" " Never better. " said Charvin. " What do you got there?" she said as she was reaching for a star map that was in his hands. Suddenly Charvin hissed at her. " What has gotten into you?" Saphire said as she ran to lock herself in her room. She suddenly felt as if she was no longer safe in her house. But then she remembered that tomorrow was her birthday, and she was going to be able to spend time with her friends away from her family. She suddenly felt relieved when she flopped on her bed. She felt all her curls fall on her face as she whispered to herself, " I miss you mom." It was finally her 15th birthday! Since her mother's passing, Saphire stopped thinking of throwing a quinceñera. Thus her just spending the day with her friends, Samantha and Mary-Katherine. After a long day of fun, Saphire let her dark brown curls out of her ponytail. Suddenly as she drifted off to sleep, she saw a very bright light shining through her windows. As Saphire went outside to check what was going on, she felt a strong sting on the back of her neck. " Who are you?" she said before passing out.
