Chapter 7: Vincent (1)  *** Situation in the company was getting worse by the second. Police also came to question the CEO and to what extent was he aware of Aaron's actions behind the scenes. Thankfully they left soon after the questioning. Vincent was burried in work unable to take a break because of constant bad news coming his way. Eventually the press also caught wind of what's happening and started waiting in front of LIBERATED to basically harass it's employees until they get a scoop. But LIBERATED's employees weren't so easily harassed. They all kept silence when arriving and leaving work. All of them knew that any careless word they say can be exaggerated and used against them. And none of them wanted to cause harm to their employer whom they highly respected. Unexpectedly so, Vincent's best friend Charles had decided to pay him a visit in his office. "Heyo Vince seems like you're in quite the mess now." Charles spoke so carefree like he was speaking with his friend on the way to school. "Charles it's not the time to be-" Vincent tried to speak back but his words got cut off mid sentence. "Vince, it's so not like you to be so uptight." Charles said mocking his friend’s seriousness. "I don't have much choice in the matter given the amount of work here." Vincent said in his defence. The amount of work that had piled up on his desk was immense. It was truly too much for a single person to handle. "I wouldn't mind helping you out with the legal side of things. I have some really competent people after all. You know Noah Smith?" Charles asked while folding his arms confidently. "I did hear he was the top lawyer in the country. But how did you get your hands on him?" Vincent asked impressed by his best friend’s connections. "Actually he's also my boyfriend." Charles said filled with pride as if showing off. "Oh so you quite literly 'put your hands' on him huh?" Vincent said and smiled a bit withholding his laughter.  "Yes I did! He's also very good in bed! I'm rather proud of the catch!" Charles laughed outloud, he was quite a gentleman with his partners but that didn't mean he wouldn't speak like this with his closest friend. Both of them have known each other since childhood. When Vincent had ran away from his parents Charles had been the one to take him in for a while. But Vincent didn't want to be soley reliant on his friend and left soon after. They both began their companies at the same time as well. While Vincent is the CEO of Liberated a company that mainly focuses on investments in all fields. Charles is the CEO of ‘Gentleman Corporation’ as ironic as the name is to the personality of it’s founder, it’s a publishing house with some of the greatest authors in the country. Both of them had always helped each other even when the other person didn’t want that help. “So what do you say? Should I bring him to lend you a hand? Of course not that kind of hand.” Charles laughed while speaking. “You’re saying I won’t get an extra hand job out of it?” Vincent went along with the man’s joking. They’ve known each other for far too long for it to be otherwise. “You know what they say, if you’re good at something, never do it for free.” Charles referenced an old movie. “Oh then I will have to pay for my hand job? I do have the money.” Vincent jokingly took out his wallet. “I don’t think you can afford him. After all he is a top lawyer.” Charles said crossing his arms. “But if it’s not a hand job, then any other legal work would be right up his ally. I’ll cover the expenses of course.” “I couldn’t take it for free-” Vincent was cut off by someone knocking on the door. “Yes? Come in.” “Mr. Raycarlton, I have good news. A lawyer from Gentleman Corporation offered his assistance and this is amazing he actually found a way out of this!” Alex came in the room excited to share the good news with his boss. Then both Vincent and Charles looked at each other and burst out laughing uncontrollably. “Hahaha! He sure works fast!” Vincent barely made a sentence out of his laughter. “Faster than he needs to be! I didn’t even manage to make a deal with you! Ahaha my stomach hurts from so much laughter.” Charles also chimed in. Alex simply stood there bewildered why those two grown men have been laughing like high school girls. “Sir, I am not sure if I understand…” Alex tried to speak but when he saw Charles handing something to the CEO he went silent. “What is this?” Vincent asked. “A small present, don’t watch it until you have gotten home.” Charles said and winked. “It’s not p**n now is it? You’re a grown man!” Vincent said with a mocking tone. “Check it out after you get back okay?” Charles waved goodbye as he was leaving the office. The scene that played out in front of Alex’s eyes was too fast paced for him, the only thing he thought of was ‘Who was that man and why did they seem so close?’ “Oh Alex sorry to make you see something like that. You said a lawyer had come?” Vincent focused once again finally calming down since Charles left. “Yes! He sent this and I decided to deliver it to you personally.” “Thank you. I think I have finally figured out a way to fix all of this.” Vincent said as he took the documents and began reading them. “…” Alex wanted to leave but he also wanted to ask so many things. “Mister Raycarlton… Tonight would it be possible for us to meet on a personal matter?” “What would you need me for Alex dear?” Vincent was still in a cheery mood since Charles’ visit, so he decided there was no harm in teasing Alex a bit. “D-dear?!” Alex blushed all the way to his ears. It was such a cute sight to see. “Why yes dear! We are a couple after all! Haha…” Vincent laughed as he spoke. He seemed to be in a great mood, but the same couldn’t be said for Alex. “Um…” blushing so hard he wanted to hide his face, Alex looked down. Vincent stood up and approached the man. “Is something the matter?” he said in a worried tone then after he got close enough, wrapping his arms around the other’s waist he whispered “…or is it getting too much for you down there?” Then Alex instantly jumped back flustered and left the office in a hurry. “He seems to be extra jumpy today…” Vincent mumbled to himself. *** Despite them both not dating, Alex still felt jealous for some reason. Seeing how happy Vincent was with Charles compared to him made it painfully obvious where he stood. He was an average employee while the other was a CEO of his own company as well. It was impossible to match up to someone like that. Alex began thinking what he’d gotten himself into and why are there feeling suddenly creeping in on him with such intensity. Could he be falling for his employer?
