Pulling one of the glow sticks free Luca tossed it hard to his right. It snicked into the wall with a c***k. The watcher faceless mask walked over towards the sound. Luca thought they’d make a call. Sound some notification that someone was here, but they did nothing. Not bemoaning the gift Luca lowered himself to his stomach on the wing and carefully tied his rope. As they walked under the wing, he dropped the rope and snagged them around the throat. A quick jerk pulled the rope hard around the throat and with them suspended they made no real noise in their struggles. When the struggles ceased Luca fished them up and settled them on the wing.
He checked for a pulse equal parts relieved and concerned to find a steady pulse. Loosing the rope from around the throat Luca efficiently tied them up. He contemplated looking under the mask but a shout from ahead had him turning away.
Luca gave up on getting some answers to prioritise the plane, cutting the rest of his rope free Luca leapt lightly from the plane, he rolled on landing before he reached out and swung back up onto the next plane. I hope we haven’t given them to much time already. Crossing the next two planes Luca reached the high concentration of red dots and spotted the three obviously private planes. The area was actually well lit some sort of flood lights at the base of the planes. Luca turned off the night vision enhancement to clear his sight lines. Considering the planes had WIC printed in massive letters across the side Luca was certain that he had the right planes.
It was the collection of people under the planes though that had Luca’s brows raising. [Lucky: It seems there are more participants in this party than we thought.] Luca looked from the faceless masks to the two teams acting as guards around the planes. They moved with the training of soldiers so he expected them to be a TacWar regular team. Only issue was he didn’t recognise them. It was however the third group that concerned Luca. They had eye masks on, and black muffler style scarfs and they seemed to be fighting the faceless masks, but they were deliberately avoiding helping the two teams.
Determining that the fight didn’t need him to do much Luca decided that he wanted answers more. He quickly plaited his rope again as he waited until one of the faceless masks approached his perch. With a quick flick he hooked him up and dragged them onto the wing. In the chaos no one seemed to notice his actions. Efficiently tying them up he quickly searched them. Pulling out two knives a phone and two syringes Luca then reached for the mask.
[Rӓv: Your left.]
Luca rolled back in time to the warning, narrowly avoiding the sword aimed at his neck. Seriously? If I’d realised, we were having a dance off I’d have brought my own. Bitterly regretting not having just outright carried his full arsenal equipped since he really should have known better Luca watched in resignation as the new faceless mask rescued the captured one. Damn it, was it too much to ask for a few answers at this point? Apparently yes, because without even so much as by your leave the pair of faceless masks pounced at him.
Luca directed most of his attention at the one armed with a sword. Since he had disarmed the other, he was less of an immediate threat. Pulling his knives out Luca let his muscles settle. He’d been doing so much guerrilla fighting of late that it felt weird to be in something so straight up. The faceless masks moved with eerie synergy as they lunged forward. That being said there didn’t seem to be the same type of systematic training that he was used to encountering.
Thus, he had a simultaneous easier and harder time dealing with them. Easier because they didn’t seem proficient at making precise attacks. Harder because there attacks often went wildly wide almost catching him when he dodged. The hardest part was that they were incredibly fast. They relied on there speed to compensate for the lack of skill. Still there was a strange idiosyncrasy that Luca noticed as they got more riled, blood lust began to seep from them as if they were used to killing while their movements got even less controlled. It was like they were not used to fighting in their own skin.
When the sword wielder presented an opening Luca spun in fast and struck hard into their chin with the hilt of one knife before stabbing the other into the wrist of the hand holding the sword. As he twisted away and attempted to grab the sword the first faceless mask struck out, forcing Luca to shift so their hand brushed past his head. Shifting back further Luca allowed the sword fall to the ground were it immediately slid off the wing to the cement floor below. Like an announcement the clatter of it striking the ground drew all eyes to them.
Luca raised his daggers back up prepared for another round only for three black mufflers to leap onto the wing and the faceless masks to back away. One of the black mufflers stared at Luca for a long moment before they too turned and left. At the same time the power came back on, and Luca realised that more familiar players had entered the hanger. He flicked a look at Ghost who was observing the two guarding teams before he directed his attention to the others.
[Lucky: Reports.]
[Tails: There was someone directing but the only distinguishing feature was a red spot on the mask. Just as you got into your fight, some dudes in black mufflers melted out and started into it with the faceless masks. Couldn’t hear what they were arguing about though.]
[Holly: When the faceless masks pulled out of the lounge the other participants mostly split up, so I stayed to watch the suits. I also gathered everyone’s stuff to guard. The suits seemed to know something about the attack but keep claiming it’s the shadows doing. They say the shadows don’t want the charity donation for support for the poor that is coming out of the contests sponsorship to happen.]
[Lucky: All right Tails that’s interesting. The black mufflers were fighting the faceless masks here as well, but they weren’t helping the contestants. Good work Holly that tells us that WIC knows someone wants to stop the contest and are ignoring it. Also did anyone know that there was a charity element to this event?]
[Rӓv: Nope, I thought I’d hunted out all the information on this before. Now though there is news about the charity aspect everywhere, no way I missed that.]
[Lucky: Grounding their excuses? They work fast.]
“I know your tough stuff but its not like you to just wait around and bleed.” Luca turned his head to look at Zeno the ‘Zero’ one part curious two parts confused. Zeno was normally a bit hostile and a bit derisive, Luca could count on one hand how many times he’d initiated a conversation.
The confusion related to being asked about bleeding he’s blocked all the blades directed at him. At that moment Luca felt a trickle of fluid down his collar and he raised a hand to touch his neck. Pulling his fingers back he looked at the blood. How? The only strike that came close to my neck was that final hit from that unarmed faceless mask. He wasn’t wearing a ring so were his nails just really sharp?
“Must have cut it on a window, didn’t even notice” Luca responded as he started moving away back to were he’d left his clothes. Ghost joined him a moment later and idled around while Luca re-dressed and pulled his shoes on. Interestingly Zeno also followed continuing to talk.
“I really didn’t expect you lot to participate in this one.”
“Why? Everyone was invited equally and it’s a pretty big pot to win,” Luca kept his tone bland as he responded. There was nothing inherently wrong with Zeno making small talk. In fact it couldn’t be more normal to sound out the competition. If it had been anyone else Luca wouldn’t have thought anymore about it.
[Holly: The suits are making noise about having the planes readied and being in the air in thirty.]
[Rӓv: How are they planning to manage that?]
[Holly: I have no idea, but you may want to come back for your stuff.]
Luca leapt down from the plane wing while he settled his shirt. Zeno would have to be a problem for later contemplation. He was not going any further without being full geared damn it. Taking off back to the lounge at a jog Luca gave one response to Zeno’s confused look. “Gotta check on the suits the prize is out if the organisers are toast.” Luca knew that they were fine, but it was unlikely that the others could be so assured unless they’d had some way of communicating with anyone left in the room. Though since Holly hadn’t mentioned anyone else staying that seemed unlikely.
