CHAOS

1185 Words
Just as Mr Nico ran after Hector, I quickly followed behind them. You won't all leave me here with these ladies, I might get devoured. “Hold on Mr. Hector”, Nico called out, stretching forth his hand as we ran after the dark aura Hector. My heels clicked rhythmically as I ran across the room, the air thick with tension as the eyes on me seemed to stare like they could see my spine. With his hands in his pocket, Hector stopped on his track, his face pale and emotionless as he posed like a model. Once again, the eyes of both men and women, old and young, stole glances at him respectfully. Just as we were about to reach the spot where Hector stood, a loud gunshot was heard across the room. For a second, my heart left my body, and I could taste the blood in my mouth, as my eyes widened in fear, and I froze as the joyful chatters and laughter of both old and young died down instantly into unease and panic, screams filling the air as hands flew into the air, covering their heads as they ran, glasses shattering and chairs breaking as people fled roughly. My palms were hot with sweat and still, goosebumps formed on my skin as cold flashes bolted through me, the room a setting of fear and tension. I turned around, unsure of what to do or where to run to. Where did the shot come from? Who was shot? “CHAOS” I heard a familiar deep dark voice whisper, was that… Mr. Hector? My eyes widened as I turned around abruptly, my heart pounding fast to be set free from my ribcage. “He had been here just a few seconds ago. I could hear his voice, and his smell still lingered in the air, stronger than the alcohol flying across the room. I searched in the crowd which had turned into a battlefield, scanning every corner and hoping to find him safe amidst the bottles flying across the hall, knives slicing and splitting the skin of humans and cutting the throats of some, the party hall now a place of blood or should I say… a slaughter ground with blood flowing like a bath tube overflowing, but not even a hint of him. But there was Mr. Nico at a corner under a table, shaking profusely like a white man sick of malaria. They were so close already before this started. Where did Hector go already? A lump formed in my throat as a thought ran through my mind: What if Mr. Hector was the one being shot and had he been kidnapped? I swallowed hard. Why am I even this concerned about this particular stranger? I’m in the middle of a battlefield, but I’m searching for him. “What’s wrong with me?” I asked myself, and suddenly I was pushed hard against the ground. The ceiling became the ground and the ground above me like the sky, turning the corners of the hall into a horizon. With a heavy thud, I came crashing. “f**k”, I cursed, rising to my feet immediately and this time, heading with nature’s advice of following my instinct. I fled like a flee in a casket though I was beginning to feel dizzy and sick. Before I could get to the exit, I felt a sour uproar in my throat. My hands flew to gate keep my mouth, but it couldn’t do much work as my body convulsed, the taste of stale pizza I ate a few hours ago mixed with some other previous meals and snacks that are now acidic spattered on the ground. Good lord, the smell of metallic blood, human skin, and now vomit, my stomach churned again, teasing me, and my eyes hot with tears. I don’t think this place will ever remain the same, but that is the least of my worries right now. This isn’t the first time a fight has started with Mr. Nico’s Club, but this is the fiercest I have seen. Like it was controlled with rage, by a puppeteer, maybe the devil himself. The chaos was spread car across the street, like we were in hell already. “What did these people eat”, I muttered, looking around to make sure I was safe as I hastily walked out of the street. “Yes… there she is”, a grumpy voice thundered. My head flew to the side sharply to understand what and who was the subject of discussion. Three men stood, rage and ruthlessness burning in their eyes, one of them pointing at me. For sure it was me, I was the only one around. “Melanin glowing”, one laughed loudly, “dinner is served”, another chimed in. “Arghh… I wanna see those legs in the air… or should I say, on my shoulders”, the last man added with a cocky voice. “This is highly nutritious, an old c**k would surely rise at the sight of this beauty”, he continued loudly, grunting, snorting, and laughing together huskily and quite irritatingly. I need not a prophet to tell me that I was in big trouble, the lump in my throat was now I usual occurrence and I swallowed hard again. Maybe it’s a dream, just a very bad nightmare, but even if, I needed to run still. My shoes came flying in the air as I took to my heels, not looking back— I couldn’t even do so, I was too scared, my heart thumping loudly in my chest as my breast jiggled with every step I ran. I could hear them running after me, that pace I could never match. “Good heavens”, I prayed as tears slowly welled up in my eyes, I had seen a bathtub-sized amount of blood tonight, mine shouldn’t be among them, please. I was not one to move around this neighborhood, for the few years I have worked here I’m always dropped by a taxi directly in front of the club so I do not know my ways around the interlinked street. I don’t care, just run, I could hear the men close in behind me, their steps growing louder with every land, I was run for my life, but it already felt like I had been running for days, like a nightmare indeed, my body began to fail me, starting from the lump in my throat making my screams only escape my mouth as whispers. My feet began to fail, my head began to spin, the loud thud of my heart occupied the space of my mind, my knees were unable to carry my body, and my stomach knots. As I turned around a bend heading to the next street, I bumped into a huge masculine figure. “Oh crap, this is the end of me”, my eyes widened in fear, as my life flashed before my eyes as the world seemed to slow down.
