3 Mate

Seraphina POV "Honey, you look beautiful," my mom says and I smile. "I feel beautiful. Dressing like this is definitely outside of my comfort zone, but I admit it feels good. I just hope I don't kill myself in these heels." My mom chuckles and puts the finishing touches on my makeup. Once we are finished, I follow her out of my room and into the living room. My dad stands as soon as he sees me. He moves toward me just as Marcus steps into the room in his suit. "Who are you and what have you done with my sister," he says. "Marcus, enough," my mother says. "What I'm just saying she spends so much time acting like one of the guys, I didn't think she could look like this," he says. I try not to let his words bother me, but they do. His anger with me seems to get worse the closer we get to me accepting my father's title. My father growls and Marcus raises his hands in surrender. "Fina, knows I'm only teasing her. You look very nice, Fina," he says. "Thanks Marcus." My father pulls me into a hug. "He doesn't mean it, Fina. He is just jealous, but he'll realize his mistake soon," my father says. I don't respond because his words don't make Marcus's hurt any less. "You look stunning, sweetheart," my dad says. "Thank you, dad. Should we go? I don't want to be late and disrespect the Alpha." "Spoken like a true Beta," he says. I can see Marcus roll his eyes out of the corner of mine, but I ignore him. The minute we step into the ballroom I smile. Abby is dancing with her dad and she looks beautiful. My dad releases me and pulls my mother to his side. Marcus takes off and I watch as he practically runs until he reaches the opposite side of the ballroom. I'm just about to take off toward Abby when Harmony growls. "Mate," she says, and my breath catches in my throat. The scent of lavender and vanilla suddenly fills my nose. My eyes search the room until the land on the man I haven't seen in over a year. He must feel my eyes on him, or maybe he has caught my scent because his eyes meet mine. I can see them flash black even across the room. I'm just about to start to move toward him when a squeal has my head whipping toward the sound. "Oh my goddess, you look hot," Abby says as she wraps her arms around my middle. "You look beautiful Abby." Before she can respond, a deep growl and the word "mate" have my heart racing. Abby releases me and I turn to face Caspian. Never in a million years did I expect him to be my mate. Don't get me wrong. I've known since we were pups that he is handsome, but I've never felt a pull to be around him. Hell all the she-wolves in the pack throw themselves at him except me and Abby. "Claim our mate," Harmony says, bringing me out of my thoughts. "Mate," I say. Without warning, he pulls me into his arms and buries his head in my neck. The tingles on my skin make my legs feel like jelly. "First she takes my title and now my best friend. What the f**k," Marcus says, with no hint of kidding in his tone. Caspian pulls back and releases his hold on me. He turns and faces my brother. "You would do well to remember that Seraphina is your future Luna. Do not disrespect her again," Caspian says. I can feel his aura and so must Marcus, because he bares his neck. "Caspian, I'm fine. Just let it go." He turns back to me and his features soften. He nods, but I notice his body stiffen slightly when Abby comes to stand next to me. It happens so quickly, I must have imagined it. "Congratulations Alpha on finding your mate. You are lucky to have Seraphina. She is my best friend. Don't ever hurt her," she says. I can tell she means every word, but she doesn't need to worry. I know Caspian isn't innocent, but I trust the moon goddess's choice for me. "I would never hurt my mate and Luna, Abigale. Rest assured she will be treated as the Luna of the Shadow pack should be," Caspian says, pulling me back into his arms. "I'm sorry for disrespecting you Fina. I'm happy for you both," Marcus says, but I know he doesn't mean a word. I nod, but I don't have time to focus on my brother's sh*tty behavior when I pulled out of Caspian's hold. "Oh my goddess Fina. I had prayed that Caspian would find his mate tonight, but I never expected it would be someone I already consider part of our family," Luna Anabel says. "Anabel, you are crushing the poor girl. Can I hug my new daughter-in-law," Alpha Damian asks. The Luna presses a kiss on my cheek, and I'm pulled into the Alpha's strong arms. He hasn't hugged me like this since I was a pup, but it doesn't feel strange. "The pack is lucky to have such an amazing future Luna, Seraphina, and my son is very lucky," he says. "Thank you, Alpha." "No more calling me Alpha. I'm Damian or dad to you," he says. I'm once again pulled from his arms and the tingles let me know it's Caspian this time. "Can I actually hug my mate," he says, and I giggle. I swear I have never giggled in my life. I look up into Caspian's beautiful blue eyes and my heart starts to race again. "Can I take you to some place more private, my Luna? I'd like to spend some time with you away from prying eyes," he says. "Of course, I would love too." I turn needing to hug my mom before we leave, and I notice for the first time her smile doesn't reach her eyes when she steps toward me. She pulls me in for a hug and I swear she is holding me so tight she thinks I'm going to run away. I thought she would be as thrilled as dad is I found my mate in our pack. I never have to leave now. "Mom, are you alright?" "Of course, I just worry about Caspian's experiences. I know you have saved yourself, and I'm positive he has not," he says. I pull back so I can look into her eyes when I say my next words. "Mom, I am not disillusioned that I will be his first. As long as I'm his last, that is all that matters to me." I notice her looking over my shoulder and can't help but follow her line of sight. Caspian, Marcus, and Abby seem to be in a heated discussion and I wonder what the hell they could possibly be talking about. I look back at my mother and her smile is gone. "Mom, what's going on?" "I'm not sure, but I've noticed that Abby seems different when Caspian is around. I think she might have a crush on him, Fina," mom says. "Mom, even if she had a crush on Caspian, which I would know because we have no secrets, she wouldn't act on it. She is waiting for her mate, just like me." She raises her hand to touch my cheek. "I hope you're right my sweet girl. Just promise me you won't bury your head in the sand even if he is your mate," she says. "I promise, mom." "Are you ready, Seraphina," Caspian asks from behind me. I press a kiss on my mom's cheek before I turn and take his offered hand. Caspian POV Titus is losing his sh*t when Seraphina is pulled away from us. Goddess, she is beautiful. I can't believe she is my mate. We grew up together, but she was always so focused on becoming Beta. I never really looked at her as anything else. Seeing her tonight in that dress with her hair done and light make-up on makes me want to kick my own a** for not realizing just how beautiful she was before. I mean I noticed her, but she never paid attention to me like the other she-wolves. "You are an id*it. She is perfect," Titus says. "Caspian." Abby's soft voice has my heart pounding against my chest. She is Seraphina's best friend. F**k I slept with my mate's best friend. "I swear to the goddess if we lose Seraphina because you couldn't control your d*ck, I'm going to make you wish I wasn't your wolf," Titus says. "We aren't going to lose her. She is ours. I already love her. Abby was a mistake," Titus says. "Abby, what do you want," I ask harsher than I mean to. My eyes never leave my mate, who is saying goodbye to her mother. "Are you going to tell her," she asks. My head snaps in Abby's direction. I feel bad for the sadness and regret I see in her eyes. "Absolutely not. Do you want to hurt her?" "Of course not. She is my best friend. I love her," she says. "I knew it. I knew you two were fooling around. Hell, I thought you two were going to end up mates," Marcus says. My body stiffens. His words reminding me that for a short time I had thought the same thing. It would have made this whole situation easier. Titus growls and I block him out. I didn't mean I don't want Seraphina, but what happened between me and Abby is going to upset our mate if she finds out. "I can't lie to her, Caspian. I love her. We need to tell her and beg for her forgiveness," Abby says. Marcus throws his head back and laughs. "She won't forgive either of you. My sister has waited for her mate and knowing you two have f**ked isn't something she will forgive. I still don't understand what the f**k the goddess was thinking. She shouldn't be a Luna," Marcus says. I know he is jealous of his sister, but he will not ever disrespect my mate. I growl low, and he bares his neck to me. "You will not tell my mate about what happened between us, Abby" I say. I'm sure my eyes are flicking between mine and Titus's. "That goes for you too," I say to Marcus before I make my way toward the woman that is meant to be mine. Once we are outside the ballroom, I pull her through the pack house and up the stairs to my room. When we step inside, I pull her back into my arms. Her eyes meet mine again and the connection is almost palpable. "Seraphina, do you accept me as your mate?" She answers without hesitation and I smile. "I do accept you, Caspian Young as my mate and Alpha." The strength of her words washes over me. "I, Caspian Young accept you Seraphiina Hill as my mate and Luna." Something flashes in her eyes and my stomach drops.
