Rose got the call at the diner from her mom that she had a visitor, and her mother wasn’t happy about it. But even though her mom hated it, it made Rose happy. Jeff cared enough about her, about making sure she was happy enough and not worrying, to go talk to her mom. And Rose knew just how much her mom hated Jeff, and it wasn’t lost on Jeff either.
