Chapter 1
It was early morning when my phone started going off madly on my beds stand. Startling me awake, I fumble around trying to find it. Grabbing my phone, I answered it.
"Hello" I said sleepily, sitting up in my bed.
"Eva, do you want to go to that party with me tonight? It's your last chance to say yes?" My friend Rose asked.
"Do you know what time it is, because it's five in the morning?" I said, mad and tired.
"I'm sorry, I didn't realize it was that late already," Rose says.
"Guess you haven't gone to bed yet" I asked.
"You would be correct," Rose said, giving a small laugh. Thinking for a minute, I replied.
"If I say yes, would you stop asking?"
"Yes, I knew I could trust you so I'll see you tonight, I'll pick you up at your place at nine tonight, bye" Rose replied, hanging up. That was Rose for you. Granite she was my best friend, but darn, when she set her mind to something she wouldn't let it go. I tried to get back to sleep, but once I was up I usually couldn't get back to bed. So I got up and got around for work. I worked as a waitress for a café. Making myself some breakfast, I headed out. I lived in an apartment, so I was only a short way away from the subway. It was the usual day at work. After my shift was done, I did some grocery shopping. At home, I made sure to shower and get around for the night. Rose showed up at ten after nine.
"Sorry I'm running a bit late, work kept me busy today" Rose says, as we both make our way to the subway. Rose was wearing a short sparkly light pink dress with heels, her hair was in blonde curls with hoop earrings. I was wearing a short pink layered skirt and light blue blouse with polka dots on it and light pink heels, my red hair was straight with a rose hair clip in it and I had little diamond stud earrings. The place Rose took me to was downtown and looked like a very fancy club.
"I can't believe I got invited to this party" Rose says excitedly, as the guard at the door checks are license and lets us in. Inside was crowded and had dim lighting, the music was loud and the lights were messing with my eyes. Looking around, Rose seemed to disappear. I didn't like it, there seemed to be dark shadows lurking around everyone like sins. Moving through the crowd I head further in trying to look for Rose. I spot her sitting over near the bar, so I quickly make my way over towards her.
"Rose, thank god I found you" I say, sitting down beside her.
"Sorry, I saw a friend of mine I didn't mean to lose you" Rose says, taking a sip of her drink.
"Would you like something to drink?" A bartender asks me.
"No thank you, I don't drink," I replied. Rose taps me on the shoulder, I turn towards her.
"Yeah" I say.
"Is it okay if I go talk to some friends, also you should go talk to some new people too, maybe you can finally get a boyfriend" Rose says, taking another sip of her drink.
" OK fine" I said. "But I'm not really interested."
"Yeah right, well good luck then" Rose says, smiling and winking at me. As I watched Rose disappear into the crowd. Rose is a good friend, but darn can she be pushy. Getting up, I just wander around not really knowing what to do. Suddenly, I felt a cold sensation run over me as if someone was staring at me. Looking in front of me, I saw a tall man with dark hair in a black suit staring right at me as I looked at him, our eyes locked. His deep blue eyes change as they slowly turn to the color of blood red rubies and dark black wings unfurl around him, encasing him in a dark aurora. Instinctively, I turned and disappeared into the crowd.
"I have to leave now" was the only thing I could think of. Pushing through the crowd of people, the flashing lights made me dizzy. Finally, I made it towards a door. I quickly opened it. Closing the door behind me. I sighed with a bit of relief to be out of that crowd. Looking up, I notice I'm standing in an empty hallway with dark gray walls and a velvet-red carpet.
"There has to be an exit somewhere" I whispered to myself. Making my way through the maze of halls. "This place is bigger than I thought,'' I said to myself. Checking my phone, It was already eleven p.m.. Laying up against the wall, I closed my eyes. I was exhausted all of a sudden from adrenalin. Someone slams their hand against the wall I was leaning against, making me open my eyes and gasp. Right in front of me was the tall man from earlier with both of his arms up, pinning me up against the wall.
"What are you?" He says in a cold, deep voice staring me right in the eyes.
" The bigger question is what are you?" I said, standing my ground. Pushing his arm away from me, I take it as an opportunity to run, but he grabs me by the waist.
"I wouldn't let you get away that easily, would I?" He says, smirking. All of a sudden, all of my energy seemed to drain away. As I go limp in his arms.
