Chapter 1. The calm before the storm.

Tessa"s pov

"Lunch!!" Called Luna Whitney from the bottom of the stairs.

"We'll be right down.' responded Ashley from her bedroom door.  

Ashley is hosting a pre- birthday  sleepover for me because tomorrow I will be 18. Tonight me and my friends are staying at the alpha's house and then we are going to spend the whole day getting ready for my birthday ball. Well it is really the spring whatever ball but I have claimed it as mine. I mean it is bad enough I have to share my birthday with my twin brother Theo but now this spring thing is stealing my thunder. I'm not a drama queen but being the only human in a family of werewolves makes you want to shine sometimes. 

My sister's Isabel and Eliza   and best friends Kate and veronica giggle at a stupid joke as they exited Ashley's bedroom.  I'm stopped from fallowing them when Ashley lightly grabs my elbow.  

"Hey, I have an early gift for you." Ashley whispers to me as the others disappear down the hall. 

"Besides this amazing sleepover?" I raise my eyebrows at her. 

Ashley and her mom went all out decorating the bedroom and family room with pink decorations. Pink is my favorite color.

"Here. For tomorrow." Ashley says handing me me a large white box with a red bow on it. 

I question her with my eyes as I open the box and getting met with  A perfect fitting light pink ball gown with little silver flowers embedded in the soft silk . For a long time I just stand there speechless.

I...I..I can't except this it's to much. How did you even find this?" 

"My mom and I made it for you." Ashley says with a small smile and pink cheeks.

"I... IT's .... I don't know what to say. You made it so you should wear this oh so amazing dress." I say.

Ashley rolls her eyes as she bites her bottom lip. "I made it for you so you will wear it and I will wear my dress. You can just say thank you so we can go eat. I am starving And if we don't hurry the boy's will be home from there trip and there will be no food within miles of this house. " I go to protest but my stomach rumbles pleading for sustenance.  

" You are so right and thank you.' I say as I put the box away and quickly darting out of the room yelling "Race ya!" Of course I don't stand a chance  against the strong she-wolf. 

A little while later: 

As I am finishing my  lunch the other girls start to giggle and rush to finish eating. I know they can hear the incoming stamped of wild boy- wolfs and I join them in the rush. Just as I dump my plate into the dishwasher the front door busts open as my three older brothers, Ashley's brothers and some of their friends enter the house making as much noise as possible. Nate my oldest brother is the first one in and he runs to my sister in-law Eliza lifting her into the air and embracing her. 

"How was my mate?" he asks but before she can answer they start sucking each others faces. I roll my eyes at the scene knowing they will both be dead to the world for the next few hours. 

My brother James tumbles in with Asher, August and a few other boys all rough housing and complaing of being starved.  Bringing up the back is Theo and Adam  talking pack politics. Luna Whitney starts bringing out   enough food to feed this small army. 

"How was it?"  Luna Whitney asks as she places the last bit of food on the table. 

All the young wolfs have been out in the middle of nowhere doing intense training for the last week. 

"Really informing." States Adam the muscled, tanned, brown haired, hazel eyed, and totally hot soon to be alpha. 

"Well I am glad." Luna Whitney says with a smile. 

"How was your week Luna Whitney?"  Theo asks such a kiss-ass. 

"Pretty good, dear. A little hard with all the quite and spare time but you know what can you do." Luna Whitney joked.

Theo started to say something but before words a came out he darted across the room grabbing and sniffing Kate who was talking to Isabelle and veronica. 

"Mate." Theo and Kate said at the same time. Oh come on.

I rolled my eyes and left to find solace in Ashley's bedroom. As a human my chances of having mate is very slim. It hurt watching everyone else getting their wolf and finding their mate while I was human and alone.
