Stirrings

I woke up this morning feeling a little better about myself, last night was fun and Laura was fun to hang around with. I can only hope that she can help me to learn how to fight like she said she would, but the problem is her stupid brother, Damian. I'm sure he wouldn't like it, but since when have I cared, he can threaten me all he wants but I need to learn to protect my family, and Laura can help me do that. Amanda." Amanda." Amanda!" Huh." I glare at Damian who rudely interrupted my thoughts with his husky voice. "What?" I say roughly, my annoyance showing through. 'Calm down girl.' I tell myself, but what do you expect he's making me sit in his lap while he works, quite annoying and uncomfortable, and no I haven't forgiven him for leaving hanging last night. "Answer me." "Answer what?" "Would you like to take a break?" I nod my head ferociously whilst struggling to get off him as quick as possible.  "Woah there, love." He keeps a tight grip on my waist, leaving no room between us.Will I ever learn? No, probably not "I never said you could leave my side." 'Damn him ' He moves to place one hand underneath my legs and one on my back, and stands up, lifting me into a princess carry. "What are doing? Let me down!" I cry and pound on his chest but it has no effect. "Now why would I do that. You look so sweet and natural in my arms." I lye my fists on his chest and look down, blushing hard at his comment. Before I know it we were moving. 'Ah.'  "Where are you taking me?" "My My. For such a little thing you're mouth certain makes alot of noise, how about we take this party to the bedroom." "What?" My heart beat faster at that thought. I know the traitorous part of me wanted it to happen. I started to breathe harder as I was scared of what he'll do to me, will he be rough or gentle, I don't know and I don't want to find out. He lets out a little chuckle and I look at him, both in confusion and fear. "Don't worry love. I'm only joking." Anger rose within me. 'THAT SMIRK!' "Unless you've already fallen for me." "NO!" "So quick to dispute. No matter, sooner or later you'll love me." "Fat chance." We continue like this until we reach the kitchen he sits me down, finally. "What would you like for lunch?" "Doesn't matter. It's not like you can cook anyway." That's my only retort, as I challenge him. "You wouldn't be challenging me would you now, sweetheart." "Maybe." "Very well. Challenge accepted." The prig turns around and gets to work. Damian P.O.V I work on the meal she challenged me to make, unfortunately for me I don't know much about cooking, I've always had everything done for me, so the fact that I accepted this challenge is startling, but, I've seen this dish made hundreds of times, how hard can it be, right? I put the mince in the pot and put it on the stove and turn on the gas with some effort and do the same with pasta. As I struggle to turn on the stove top, I catch the faint but soft sound of Amanda chuckling behind me. She's making fun of me, and goddess that laugh, I wish she would make that sweet sound more often, just not at my expense.  "What are you laughing at?" I ask her, her face still amused. "Nothing." She covers her mouth trying to conceal her amusement.  Eric P.O.V Being Damian's Beta is hard work, the fool won't doing anything on his own, even his own bloody paperwork. I rant in my head as I find my way to his office, big suprise, he's not in there. I move to his desk and find something unusual. The heavy loads of files on his desk are half gone and, sniffing around I catch the scent of Amanda, the i***t's mate. There's something strange about her, she doesn't smell like a normal wolf, not mention they don't seem to be liking each other's company, there's something strange about them, and I'm going to find out what it is. I follow their scent downstairs and hear their voices originating from the kitchen. "Grrr." I hear a growl and I rush to the kitchen, because if the Alpha of this pack is hurt, it's on my head, but as if on instinct I stop dead in my tracks, my wolf telling me to stand down and see how the situation unfolds.  "Oh my God Are you okay?"  She asks Damian. Her voice filled with, genuine, concern? He turns around and groans in pain. I try to stay hidden and not intervene, because like my wolf I'm curious to see what they'll do. "Fine. just boiling water on my hand. Nothing major." Amanda giggles, stands up from her seat, and walks over to him.'What's so amusing about this? This girl.' She holds his hand and inspects the burn mark. Wait how did he manage? Is he, cooking?' I ask myself suprise evident in my own thoughts. 'He never cooks.' She pulls his hand in hers over to the sink and runs the cold water. Damian flinches but never looks away from Amanda as she pulls his hand out from underneath, assuring him he'll be fine. Their eyes lock and gaze at one another without blinking. I can see something stirring inside them, so I leave them be in their private moment. Maybe I was wrong in my doubt about them, last night they acted like two polar opposites but, now, that girl truly is something, if she can get the i***t to do actual work. However, I still have doubts about her, she's human, that much is clear, but it's her lineage that worries me. I'll have to do some more digging into her family history to be sure.
