“I heard you got called into the principal office today, care to explain what that’s about.” Mom ask?
“Nothing.” I continue running up the stairs.
“Nothing doesn’t grant you a call to the office.” She says causing me to stop as she positions herself at the bottom of the stair well.
“They just want me to help out tutoring someone.”
She burst out in a loud laugh.
“They want you to tutor someone, your as stupid as they come.” Her words hit once again but I’m learning to not let it get to me anymore, she’s still hurting and she was never like this.
“I hope miss smarty pants are at school because I didn’t make lunch and I’ll not be home to make you dinner. Maybe you could use that brain of yours and help yourself.”
Breakfast, lunch and dinner stopped coming for a long time, usually before getting home I’d buy myself something to eat with the little money they would give us monthly from the course.
Class today wasn’t as terrible as I thought it would be, take away getting stick a couple of times in the wrong places but it wasn’t bad.
Grabbing my books and bag I reluctantly head towards the water fall, it’s been years since I’ve been to this place… the last time I came here I was 10.
That’s where I saw Nilian for the second time, he was training with his brother. I remember sitting watching them throw kick and punch each other for almost four hours straight.
While sitting and waiting I decided to finish eating and go over some pointers from today's class, about an hour passes by and there was still no sign of Mr. Perfect.
Deciding I shouldn’t wait any longer and should get back before it gets much more dark out I leave. A part of me was angry but then another part wasn’t so… he is soon to be Alpha so something much more important must have come up.
The forest is most beautiful at night time, especially at the Blossom moon. The trees make a circle at one point of the path and the moon shines down in between leaving the most beautiful sight to behold.
As I continued walking I could hear the leaves rustling in the tree’s , the wind wasn't blowing so I assumed it was an animal and continued.
“What’s a young girl like you doing walking in the forest this late?”
My head spins back then and forward, trying to figure out where that voice came from.
“You can only see when you know what you're looking for.” The loud laugh echoed through the forest sending chills up my spin.
“Who are you and what do you want?”
“To make your Alpha pay.”
Loud thumping footsteps come from behind me and I take off running in the direction of the pack,
A huge shade almost in the shape of a troll, it’s a troll. Panic sinks in and I start screaming at the top of my voice, but it’s of no use no one could hear me , I’m too far away and my wolf is dormant.
“Come here.” His big green hands snatched at me but missed only grabbing my book bag and bursting it off my back sending me flying to the floor.
“Hahahaha.” He laughs as he towers over me.
Not knowing what more to do, I close my eyes and curl myself up in a ball.
“Look at me, I want to be the last thing you see before I dump your body on the door of your pack.”
Trembling with tears in my eyes I look up and he steps back, he stands there looking at me well not at me at my eyes.
“That’s not possible, we got rid of those many, many years ago.”
Confusion washed over me. What the hell is he talking about?
“You can’t be back, you can’t come back…”
His eyes went dark and just as soon as he lifted his huge hands to finish me off, a growl came from behind me and jumped at his neck.
The two scrabble and scrabble shaking the trees and digging into the earth disrupting its setting.
“Run.” The voice was strong enough to get my body moving and so it did, through the first not caring if the branches poked and cut my skin or if I fell and dogged at my knees.
“You must go.” He snatched me up again by the waste, held me up to his face and repeated the same words.
“You must go.”
As he opened his mouth a huge silver wolf took him by the neck once again and he dropped my body on the floor.
The troll dropped to his knees, his green blood pumping from his neck and he began to laugh as Nilian and a group of warriors walked his way.
“I’m the least of your worries young Alpha.”
“I know because your going to die.”
“Because ancient knowledge holds ancient power. Kill it before it’s too late.”
And just like that he drops and turns to stone on the floor.
“Are you ok?” Warrior Jacob asks as he takes my hand.
“I am.. thanks.” He looks me over, before asking.
“What are you doing out here at this hour alone?”
Nilian's head spins in my direction and my eyes stick on his…
“A walk, I came for a walk.”
“Next time walk on the pack grounds ok.” Jacob says before throwing my hand over his shoulder helping me back.
It didn’t take us that long to get back to the pack grounds, a little longer than normal thanks to my limping and sprang ankle which Jacob told me if I had my wolf would heal much faster than in my natural form.
Once we reached the pack grounds I was taken directly to the hospital to get checked over, not only was it embarrassing enough I’m the packs freak now I’m the packs freak that got attacked by a troll late in the night in the middle of the forest.
What more could go wrong?
