Chapter 34
On Christmas morning, Jessie sat sipping hot chocolate as she marveled at the sight of Galen and Michael sitting around the enormous tree they’d helped her pick out the week before and helped her decorate with all the family decorations they’d found in the attic.
Jessie’s family was there, as was Galen’s brother Phillip. Wrapping paper flew around the room as everyone opened their presents. The adults enjoyed Michael’s excitement over the various toys, books, and dog-related goodies he’d received.
When almost all the presents had been opened, Michael grabbed a small box from under the tree and brought it over to Jessie.
“Jessie, this one is for you. I hope you like it.”
“Thank you, sweetie, I’m sure I’ll love it.” Jessie wondered what sort of a present Michael could buy
