Chapter 16
After the exhibition, Jessie left with Thor while Galen and Michael stopped in Sylva for dinner at Speedy’s Pizza before continuing home. Michael had talked nearly non-stop about the event since they’d left, but he was finally starting to wind down. He took his bath without any fuss and fell asleep almost as soon as his head hit the pillow.
After turning off his son’s light, Galen headed back downstairs to pour himself a brandy before relaxing in the living room. Designed with a child in mind, the gray sofa and matching armchair were sturdily constructed and covered in stain-resistant microfiber. A large low table sat in front of the sofa, ideal for doing homework or playing games. Beside the armchair was a small round mahogany table for drinks, books, and the like.
