By the end of the following week, the porch was done and some of the crew had moved inside to complete work on the balcony, as well as start the bedroom and bathroom renovations. The first day they came in was the hardest. Every sound they made had Jessie twitching, even though it wasn’t that much louder than the work outside had been. Just knowing it was coming from inside the house was enough to make it worse to her mind.
Anytime she came out of her office to refill her drink or go to the bathroom, she’d jump if she spotted one of the men. It left her nerves constantly on edge and by the end of the day she was exhausted from it all.
