When Jessie looked at Galen again, she ached to see tears streaking his cheeks. Gently, she reached up to wipe them away, afraid he wouldn’t want her to touch him. But instead, he held her hand against his face. With his free hand, he reached out for her other hand and she gladly took it as she told the rest.
“They took me to the hospital and Crichton was arrested. I kind of faded in and out in the ambulance and while they worked on me, but I can remember seeing Richards there. He refused to leave me, even at the hospital. He stood nearby while doctors worked on me, and then watched through a window when they took me in to operate. I don’t think he left until my family arrived.
