NICOLE SPRINTED DOWN the closest side passage. She reached out with her Elven senses searching for any sign of Jack. There was none. What she did find in abundance, was a deep sense of dread that washed over her body like icy rain. Nicole clenched her teeth. She increased her pace toward its source. “Give me everything you’ve got, bitch.” She growled, “You won’t stop me from taking what’s mine.” The thick stench of the dungeon disappeared as Nicole ran up a series of stone steps. In her eagerness to find Jack, she didn’t notice a shift in the shadows. When a large, stout guard leapt in her path, Nicole slammed into him. It felt like she’d hit a brick wall.
