Chapter Twenty-NineAgnes awoke to the sound of rain pounding against the window. For a moment, she thought of snuggling back down in her warm bed for another half hour, but, changing her mind, she threw back the covers. Pulling back the curtains, she peered down towards the quayside below. However, it was difficult to see anything clearly due to the rain streaming down the glass panes. Usually, at this time of the morning, there were quite a number of people bustling around the quayside as they made their way to work.
