SCENE 1 INT. LOGAN'S HOME — MORNING
Soft morning sunlight spills through the tall windows of a beautifully organized, modern home.
Everything is in its place.
The cushions are perfectly arranged. Books are aligned neatly on the shelves. Fresh flowers sit in the
center of the dining table.
There is an almost deliberate quietness to the house.
LOGAN, late twenties, elegant and composed, moves through the space with practiced efficiency.
Her phone vibrates.
She checks it.
Another work message.
Then another.
She scrolls through them while walking toward the kitchen.
PHONE SCREEN:
CLIENT: Need your approval before 10:00.
ASSISTANT: The meeting has been moved to 10:30.
COLLEAGUE: Please review the final proposal.
Logan types a response.
LOGAN Send the final version to me. I'll look at it before the meeting.
She sends it.
The phone immediately rings.
She answers.
LOGAN Good morning.
She listens while preparing her coffee.
LOGAN No. Don't move the presentation.

A pause.
LOGAN I understand they're concerned, but we've prepared for this.
She pours her coffee.
LOGAN I'll handle it.
She ends the call.
Logan places her phone on the counter.
Silence.
She takes a breath.
She looks around her home.
The quiet returns.
Her eyes settle briefly on the dining table.
One chair.
One place setting.
Her expression becomes distant for just a moment.
Then—
KNOCK. KNOCK.
Logan looks toward the front door.
She waits.
Nothing.
Another knock.
KNOCK. KNOCK. KNOCK.
Logan frowns.
She checks her phone.
No missed calls.
No messages.

She looks toward the door again.
LOGAN Who is it?
No answer.
She walks cautiously toward the entrance.
Another knock.
LOGAN I'm coming.
Logan opens the door.
CHARLIE, mid-twenties, stands there holding a small travel bag and a paper bag of food.
Logan freezes.
LOGAN Charlie?
Charlie smiles.
CHARLIE Good morning.
Logan looks at the bag in Charlie's hand, then back at her.
LOGAN What are you doing here?
CHARLIE Nice to see you too.
LOGAN No, seriously. What are you doing here?
Charlie walks past her into the house.
CHARLIE I came to see my sister.
Logan closes the door behind her.
LOGAN You could have called.
CHARLIE I know.
LOGAN You could have sent a message.
CHARLIE I know.
LOGAN You could have told me you were coming.
Charlie turns around.

CHARLIE And then you would have told me you were busy.
Logan pauses.
Charlie gives her a knowing look.
CHARLIE See?
LOGAN That's not the point.
CHARLIE It is exactly the point.
Logan looks at the travel bag.
LOGAN Wait. Why do you have a bag?
Charlie looks down at it as though she'd almost forgotten.
CHARLIE Oh.
A beat.
CHARLIE I might stay for a little while.
LOGAN A little while?
CHARLIE Maybe.
LOGAN Charlie.
CHARLIE What?
LOGAN You can't just appear at my door with a bag and say you're staying.
CHARLIE Apparently I can. I'm standing here doing it.
Logan exhales, trying not to smile.
LOGAN You're unbelievable.
Charlie holds up the paper bag.
CHARLIE I brought breakfast.
LOGAN I already had coffee.
CHARLIE That's not breakfast.
LOGAN It is for me.

Charlie looks around the perfectly organized house.
CHARLIE Of course it is.
She walks farther inside.
CHARLIE Everything is exactly where it belongs.
Logan watches her.
LOGAN Because I like things organized.
CHARLIE I know.
Charlie looks at her sister.
CHARLIE That's why I didn't call.
Logan's expression changes.
LOGAN What does that mean?
Charlie puts the food on the kitchen counter.
CHARLIE It means if I'd called, you would've had time to organize your excuse.
LOGAN My excuse?
CHARLIE "I have a meeting."
Charlie imitates Logan's serious tone.
CHARLIE "I have deadlines."
Then—
CHARLIE "I'll call you later."
Logan tries to interrupt.
LOGAN Charlie—
CHARLIE And then you wouldn't call.
Logan folds her arms.
LOGAN I always call.
Charlie gives her a look.

CHARLIE Eventually.
A beat.
Logan looks at her sister.
LOGAN Did something happen?
Charlie studies her.
CHARLIE No.
LOGAN Are you sure?
CHARLIE Yes.
LOGAN Then why are you here?
Charlie smiles faintly.
CHARLIE Because I missed you.
Logan's expression softens.
But before she can respond, her phone begins ringing again.
Logan looks toward it.
Charlie follows her gaze.
CHARLIE There it is.
Logan reaches for the phone.
Charlie watches her.
CHARLIE You know, one day that phone is going to ask you to marry it.
Logan answers despite herself.
LOGAN Hello?
Charlie shakes her head and begins unpacking the breakfast.
Logan listens to the caller.
LOGAN Yes, I'm available.
Charlie looks at her.

Logan turns slightly away.
LOGAN No, that's fine. Send it over.
Charlie watches her sister disappear back into work mode.
Her playful expression slowly fades.
She looks around the room.
Then back at Logan.
Something about her unexpected visit suddenly feels more meaningful.
