Silence
I haven’t talked to Nolan in days; It’s been really weird ever since that night. It was the last night the Harrington’s were here. Today’s the day we all go back to school since the storm. I put on this tight mid thigh length purple dress. I was hoping I would get Nolan’s attention; I put my hair in a half up half down style. I made sure to define my curls and slick my edges. I’m just glad my hair is curly because If It was straight I would sit on it during class; yup it’s that long. I matched the purple with a white purse and white leather ankle boots. (the part of my hair that’s up also has a white scrunchie).
When I went downstairs everyone was eating breakfast. I sat across from Nolan so he would have to look at me. He didn’t even acknowledge that I entered the room… like I didn’t exist.
“Good morning everyone.” I said happily. My mom and Zander were talking about something important so they didn’t see me until now.
“Good morning honey, go sit next to nolan” my mom said.
“I feel much more comfortable right here.” I said with a smile.
“That wasn’t a suggestion honey.”
“And what are you going to do if I don’t move?”
My mom moved closer to me to whisper in my ear.
“You know the key to the safe? I have it, don’t test me before it suddenly goes missing.” My mom moved away from me and smiled like nothing was said.
I slowly got up and sat next to Nolan. Of course the only thing he did was move his seat over. IN response I rolled my eyes and huffed.

Once we were done eating it was time to go to school. Nolan had left the table earlier to do whatever he does for the company.
“Get a ride from Nolan to school.” My mom said.
I stood up and pulled down my dress.
“You're going to have to learn how to actually put on some clothes once you and Nolan get married.” My mom said
I rolled my eyes.
“Mom, I’m a teenager, I’m young, and I’m not you.”
I walked to the garage the same time Nolan was.
“Your my ride”
“Can’t you ask your mom to take you or something?” Nolan said, making sure not to look at me.
“My mom told me to ask you, but if you really don’t want to take me I can ask Ryder…” Nolan cut me off.
“No, that’s not necessary just get in the car.”
I smirked knowing that if I mentioned Ryder he would give in. He can say he’s not jealous all he wants but I don’t believe it.
On the ride to school he said absolutely nothing to me. He didn’t look my way… again it felt as if I didn’t exist.
“What’s your plan exactly? How long are you going to ignore me?” I said
Of course he didn’t say anything, HE JUST IGNORED ME!!

Once we got to the school everyone was still in the parking lot. I got out as soon as possible not wanting to be with Nolan another second. As I was walking into the school everyone was staring but I could care less. Before I could get to the entrance Ryder stood in front of me.
“Hey caramel, good morning.” Ryder said
“Good morning” I said with a smile.
“So how was…” Before Ryder could finish Nolan wrapped his arm around my shoulder and held me close.
“Hey Ryder.” Nolan said
“Hey Nolan.” Ryder said, confused.
We stood there for a couple seconds in silence.
“We should head inside, nice talking to you Ryder. Come on Nasme.” Nolan said, urging me inside the school.
I looked up at him with a smirk.
“Maybe I should talk to Ryder more often. That was the first time you said something to me in how many days?”
“I’m still ignoring you. We are announcing our engagement soon. I have to be nice to you in public that’s all.”
“Whatever you say, I know the real reason.”
Just as the bell rang and everyone started to come inside, Nolan backed me up on the lockers and kissed me. Honestly I was surprised, he seemed to not want to be around me.
“You should go to class babygirl, see you later.” Nolan said leaving me breathless. He hasn’t called me that since that night.
Everyone was watching but I didn’t care. I just got to Mrs.Delancey’s class ASAP.
Once I got there I sat in the same seat as always.
It seemed like everyone was staring at me because they were.
“Today we will be discussing Shakespeare's…” I couldn’t comprehend anything she said after that, because I kept on thinking about Nolan.
I was so against us getting married but ever since the storm, I realized how attracted I am to him. How much I like him. How much I might love him.
“Nasme, why don’t you tell us what we are talking about.” Mrs.Delancey said.
“To be honest...I wasn’t paying attention. I’m really sorry Mrs.Delancey.”
“How about you tell me which Shakespeare play was portia in and give me one fact.” Mrs.Delancy said.
I bet she expected me to not know but of course I know.
“The Merchant of Venice. Bassonio wanted to marry Portia, but before he could he had to undergo a test put forth by Portia’s father. He has to pick out of three caskets. The gold, sliver, or lead. One of the caskets contains Portia’s picture, If Bassanio chooses correctly then he gets to marry her. He ends up picking the correct casket, but of course there more than that to the story.” I said.
The whole class was quiet, as if they expected me to be dumb.
“Thank you Nasme. Just pay attention next time.”
I nodded.
The day was going by pretty fast. In the hallways everyone knew my name. The girls said hi and the boys made catcalls at me (which I was disgusted by).
Then came 5th per. You know, the class with both Ryder and Nolan. This should be very eventful.
