Maverick went back to the clubhouse. He put the treats in the mini fridge he kept in his room for leftovers and drinks, to await the next time he saw Beth, then went downstairs. He had almost two hours to kill and the last thing he needed was to over think this. On the main floor, he saw several faces he recognized. He went to the bar and got a bottle of water from the kid he now knew was Sackett. He’d almost asked how the kid had ended up with a name like that, then he’d noticed the battered paperback sticking out of his jeans pocket.
