Chapter 11: The Non Negotiable

I was smiling from ear to ear when I entered our foyer.
And that is unusual!
So I do understand why our house personnel are looking at me as if I have grown two heads.
I can clearly see in their eyes the amazement! They can’t believe that I am smiling, or should I say, they can’t believe that I know how to smile!
Well because I really rarely smile, and whenever I am talking to them, I treat them well but I don’t really smile.
Though I don't really smile at them, but at least I am not rude to them!
Unlike my dear kind Sister Sacha, who always has a smile on her face. My smile is so expensive and I just give it to important people in my life, no offense.
As I am walking into our living room, someone suddenly spoke which made me stop walking.
“Someone seems to be in a good mood.” there's a playfulness in his voice.
My head snapped towards a tall and muscular guy.
He looks hot in a rugged way.
And he actually looks like someone who doesn’t follow rules, and he has this bad boy vibe. But at the same time, he looks as if someone who loves to be in command.. in control.
As I stare openly at him. Our eyes met.
He looks familiar. Where did I see him before?
I raised my eyebrow at him, as I stepped closer and look seriously at his face.
He really looks familiar, I just can't point out..
“Don’t tell me, you have forgotten me already?” He asked then he showed me a necklace.
My eyes widen, it is the necklace that I have given to..
“Ohh my! Is that you? Atticus?!”I asked in disbelief!
No way, he can’t be Atticus!
Atticus was a thin boy, a nerdy one..he looked weak..
That’s why when he told me that he will go to military training I did not believe him first! Because..it just doesn’t fit to his personality! How can he be in the military when he can't even kill a bug?!
“Who else?” he answered as he shrugged and smiled at me in a manly way.
I shook my head, still refusing to believe.
This really can't be!
“Aldous! Aldous!” I screamed and Aldous, came rushing in!
His eyes are worried! Maybe he thought that I was in danger.
“Aldous is this your son?! Is this Atticus?! Tell me!” I asked feeling so desperate.
Aldous looked at me with wide eyes then he looks back at the guy in front of me.
Then he sighed.
“You will really be the death of me,” he said with resignation in his voice.
I rolled my eyes at him, he is being dramatic again.
So I ignored his remark instead I pointed my finger at the man in front of me.
“Is he Atticus?!” I asked again, sounding impatient.
Aldous chuckled then he walks towards the man in front of me. He put his arms on his shoulder then looks back at me.
“Can’t you see the similarity? We are both handsome and-“
“Tsss..” Atticus and I said at the same time.
“What?” Aldous said looking offended.
But I ignored him again, as my eyes fixated with the new Atticus in front of me.
“Oh s**t! So it is really you! Wow..Atticus, you look so different!” I said as I looked at him again, from head to toe.
“Young lady, watch your words..” he firmly said, his brows are furrowed..he clearly doesn't like hearing me cursing.
I pouted.
He really loves to use the OLDER BROTHER card on me.
“Aren’t you going to give me a hug?” he said as he raised his eyebrow at me.
Slowly, I ran towards him and jump at him as then I gave him a tight hug while I was laughing.
“I am so happy that you are back!”
"I am happy too," he said before he kissed my forehead.
Atticus told me that he will undergo training under his Dad, so he can replace him after a month or two. And I am so excited to finally be with him.
He was like a brother to me.
A brother that I never had.
We were so close back then, while he and Sacha are just on talking terms.
Maybe because Sacha was very shy back then and she doesn’t like talking to boys. That’s why they have never been close and she is not comfortable with Atticus.
And that's why it is right that he will be my bodyguard and not hers. At least now I got someone to add to my friend's list! I mentally laughed at myself.
“Eloise?” I was in the middle of eating when Sacha called me.
I told the helpers that I wanted to eat alone, so they can call Sacha once I am done. But seems like Sacha is already hungry..
I took my time on turning to see Sacha.
I gave her a bored look.
She is standing few feet away from me.
Her eyes are sad, and she looks miserable.
Serves her right!
This is the first time that we fought and did not speak for almost 24 hours. Even I, am not used to this kind of setup..but then I have to make her see, that she did something wrong and she should be punished!
I raised my eyebrow at her, as I waited for whatever she’s going to say.
She bit her lips and plays with her fingers.
I tapped my finger on the table to make her see that I am waiting.
“A-are you still mad at me?” she asked in a sad voice.
So, she just thought that I can just forgive her like that? That easy?
“Have you figure out what you are sorry for?” I asked coldly.
Her lips parted. I thought she’s going to say something but she just closed her mouth again.
She swallowed and look down.
So I rolled my eyes at her, even if she can't see it.
“Thought so..” I said coldly.
I stood up after I wipe the table napkin on my mouth.
“I lost just my appetite,” I said and I walked past her.
I still can't believe that we have a misunderstanding and Roux is involved! How can a guy go in between of us?! But what is annoying me is why is she not telling me why she left me! She chose Roux over me!
And I admit, if I am in her situation, I will also choose Roux, and that is because I am in love with him. While she on the other hand. They are just friends! And she told me that she just thinks of him as a close friend!
So how can she do this to me?!
I know that this is not a big deal, and I am the one who's making it a big deal, but then..it is really her fault!
And when it comes to Roux, everything is non-negotiable!
