Chapter 18: Karma

“Where are they?” Roux asked the moment we stepped into our living room.
“What?” I asked innocently, even when I know what he is talking about.
“Sacha and her groupmates!” He hissed and I tried so hard not to smile.
“Ohhh.” I faked my surprise. “They are in our study room.” I pointed to the hallway where our study room is.
His brows furrowed as he looks at the hallway leading to our study room.
I actually told Sacha, that she and her groupmates, should stay in the study room because I told her I don’t want to hear any noise. And being with the members of the basketball team, they will surely be so chaotic for they are too playfully.
But the truth is, I just told her that because I don’t want Roux to have a chance to see my sister with her groupmates! Of course, I want his attention! And him seeing Sacha with her groupmates..surely his attention will be on them!
And I cannot let that happen! This is one of the opportunities that I can enjoy him alone, so I won't waste it!
Roux, run his fingers on his hair. His face is unreadable, I bet he is torn and problematic.
I turned my back on him as I smirked.
He cannot outsmart me!
“I will just go upstairs to shower a bit,” I said casually while walking towards the elevator. “Feel at home, I will ask Mimi to bring you something to drink,” I added after I glimpse at him and gave him a smile.
But he just gave me a blank look.
So, I hurriedly went to the elevator, I must shower fast. I need to go down as soon as I can before Roux will be able to think of a plan!
After I made sure that I look good already. I quickly went down.
I was all smile when as I arrived in our living room. But my smile suddenly faded when Roux is no longer to be found in our living room.
I looked around, he is not here!
“Hey..” Atticus appeared from my back and I almost jumped in surprised.
I am happy to see him! But right now, all I think about is Roux!
Where is he? Is he in the study room?!
“Hi..” I said without any trace of happiness.
“You okay?” Atticus asked. His brows are furrowed. He knows that I am not in the mood.
I nodded.
“Yes.”
I looked in the hallway. Should I go to our study room and check if Roux is there?
“Have you seen..” I started as I look at Atticus.
How should I describe Roux?
“Have you seen my..friend here?” I asked. “He was just here a while ago, and I just took a shower…” I explained. No need for other details.
Atticus stood straight and tilted his head.
“Ohh.. the guys who look as if he is going to throw something? Or pick a fight?” he smirked.
My lips parted. If this is a normal situation I would have laughed at his remark.
“Yeah!”
He shrugged.
“He left. I heard he told Mimi that he has an emergency.”
“Oh.. I see..” I said as I tried to hide my disappointment.
My shoulders dropped though, which I know that he has noticed.
Emergency?! He has an emergency?! I don’t believe him!
Just because he knows that he can’t see Sacha, he just left like that?! He really took the opportunity to leave when I am not here because he knew that I won't let him!
That sneaky guy!
If I just don’t like him, I would make sure that I will teach him a lesson.
But then again, I have no power against Roux. He can treat me badly and I will just accept it.
I’m so pathetic when it comes to him!
I sighed.
“Is that your boyfriend?” Atticus asked. I looked up at him. His face is serious.
“I wish!” I said then I shook my head.
I walked towards the couch and sat there sadly.
Atticus chuckled.
“He doesn’t deserve you, you know..” Atticus said before he followed me. He sat beside me and put his hand on my hair.
He rubbed my hair.
Just like what he usually does when we were still young and when he wants to comfort me.
And I appreciate it because it really feels like..he is my brother..the brother that I never had.
“You deserve someone better. Not some..jerk, who will not appreciate your worth!” he said softly. I looked up at him.
Our eyes met.
I smiled at him.
“You're more worthy than that Saoirse Eloise..remember that.” He said firmly and all I can do is to nod and to lean on his shoulders to seek comfort.
"I know." I whispered.
Even though I know that.. when it comes to Roux..my worth is not that important.
I am not the queen bee or the mean girl. I am just the ordinary Saoirse Eloise..
I think Roux is my Karma.
I look up at Atticus and he is just watching me.. it is like he is making sure that I am alright.
I smiled at him again.
I am so happy that Atticus is here! I know that he will always be there for me, and he will support and protect me at all costs!
We stayed quiet for a long time. We are just there silent, enjoying each other company.
I wish Mom and Dad will go back home soon. I suddenly miss them because of Atticus!
“What do you want?!” I asked irritatedly when I received a call from Callahan.
I am already in bed, with my face mask on, and was about to put cucumbers on top of my eyes when I received a call from him.
Seriously it is already what? ten or eleven in the evening!
“Well.. I just have a piece of news for you!” he said, sounding excited.
I rolled my eyes as if he can see me.
“I don’t have time for this. Let’s talk tomorrow. I am busy!” I hissed and was about to drop the call.
My mood is already sour, I can’t just deal with him right now.
I need some peace and relaxation!
“Ohh..okay..I just thought that you might be interested because it is about Roux.” I can hear a hint of a tease in his voice.
Quickly, I removed my favorite powerfoil mask from Estee Lauder from my face, and I sat up quickly.
“What did you say?” I asked curiously.
“Oh.. I thought you are not interested? We can talk about it tomorrow-“ I cut off his sarcasm.
“Are you going to tell me or not?!” I said with my gritted teeth.
Callahan chuckled.
“You are so impatient!” he said and told me about the news that he is talking about.
