SOPHIE'S POV: "Mom! I'm not meeting anyone!" It was a peaceful Saturday. She was all sweet when I came down to eat, but not until she reminded me that the guy and his parents were coming over. "They're coming over later, so please just-.." I cut her off. "I'm going over to Trisha's." "No, you're not." She hesitated. "Please, Sophie. This is also for your future! He is a very responsible man, he-.." "And am I not? Could it only be done with marriage, mom? There has to be another way." "We love you, Persophonie. We only want what's best for you." That got my tongue. "Best? For me?" I asked in confusion. "Mom." She sighed, "Your late grandfather signed contracts with this other company that our firstborn will have to marry their son. It is unless you already have a fiance or you are married to someone before you turn 20. We don't want it to happen. The owners of this company are very arrogant and cruel. So I and your father decided to marry you off with our closest business partners that we can trust. This is the only way, Sophie. I'm sorry." What? She hugged me. I hugged her back. "I'm sorry mom." I sighed, "Fine, I will stay until later." "Thank you." ** I may regret this, but at least without guilt. I will meet this Luke guy later. He and his parents are coming over for dinner. If I were forced to marry this guy, could he be at least nice and good-looking? What am I gonna do? I don't know how to act in front of a stranger. Not to mention I am to marry him. I took a bath, blew my hair dry, put on a little makeup, and got dressed. I went down and met my mom. "Thank you for doing this, sweetie." Deep down, I was broke. "The Dawson's will be here any minute." Father came out behind us. I looked at the time, 18:32. Wait. Dawson? Oh s**t. It could be either Tyler or that bastard. I'm not sure if Tyler has a second name. The bastard's name is Jey so I don't think he's Luke either. "Mom, Daw-.." The doorbell rang before I could finish. Mom and dad were greeted -I'm guessing- by Mr. and Mrs. Dawson. I mentally panicked. "Thank you for welcoming us to your house, Jen and Henry." Mrs. Dawson said as they shook hands. I stood up with a fake warm smile. How is this happening to me right now? "Oh, and this must be Sophie." She brushed my hair. "It is nice to finally meet you, Mrs. Dawson, Mr. Dawson." I bowed a bit before kissing their cheeks. They both smiled at me. "Well, aren't you just an angel? You can call me Jessica, and this is my husband, Jack. I can't let you call us mom and dad since you're not yet married, but I really want to hear from you." She winked. "Thank you for the compliment, Mrs-.. Jessica." I smiled. I can't see any guy other than Mr. Dawson. "Where are your two boys?" Dad asked. "Oh, they'll be here. They're just parking their car." Mrs. Dawson mentioned. Dad nodded. "Now Sophie, please wait for them as we discuss something, it'll be quick. We'll meet you at the dining table." He smiled and left as soon as I nodded. I sat on the couch by the door with crossed fingers. Then someone knocked on the door. The maids opened it, revealing Tyler and the jerk. I stood up. "Hey, Soph!" Tyler greeted. "Hey." I greeted him back and gave the jerk a glare. I don't know what I'm actually hoping. Tyler's better, but I don't know what to tell Trisha since she likes him so much. But I also really hope it's not a jerk. "Jey, at least greet your fiance." Tyler gave the jerk a light push. My eyes went wide. "YOU'RE LUKE?" The maids jumped a little at my sudden remark. They left with heads down. He's not even shocked to see me.. not even the slightest. He only gave me an annoyed look. They sat down on the chair opposite to mine. I tried to calm down and sat down too. He's the guy I'm marrying? He's Luke? Now I really wish it was Tyler. I'm sure Trisha will understand. Out of all people, why him? The world is seriously small. I glared at him. "Did you know?" "What do you think?" he crossed his arms and rested his back on the couch. "Since when?" He now looked at me, "Thursday." I gasped, eyes narrowing. "And you didn't tell me?" "Quit whining! Damn, harpy woman." "Jey, at least-.." Tyler was cut off as both of them stood up while looking past my shoulder. I looked behind me and noticed mom and Mrs. Dawson walking up to us. "Boys, you're here." My mom hugged them and they kissed my mom's cheek. "Oh yeah, Sophie. These are my sons, Tyler and Jeyden Luke Dawson. Boys, this is Persophonie Duval." Mrs. Dawson introduced. "So Sophie, I heard you and Tyler go to the same school?" I can only nod. My mom nudged Mrs. Dawson slightly and they grinned. "Well, I and Jen will get our food ready. Tyler, why don't you help us?" Mrs. Dawson locked her arm to Tyler. They left, leaving me and Luke alone. We remained standing. I looked over at Luke and caught him looking at me. Those smokey blue eyes. He is seriously a very good-looking man. But very rude too. I frowned at him. "Are you usually really this loud?" He said with a smug look. I rolled my eyes at him, "Oh please. You were the one who started it. You even called us cub." He scanned me from head to toe before smirking, "You are a cub. You're small." I gasped. "My lack of height department isn't your business. But your lack of attitude is a serious matter. You should get that fixed." "Damn, you're so good at pissing me off." My jaw dropped. "Excuse me?" He sighed and sat down. "You being loud will be a problem in the future." I could only look at him in shock. He clicked his fingers. "You're classmates with that Williams girl, right?" I gave him a confused look. "Hanna Williams?" "Short skirt, too much makeup," he described. Definitely Hanna. I rose a brow. "What about her?" "She's getting on my nerves. You're helping me get rid of her." I snaked my hand to my hip and leaned to the side. "I don't take orders from you." He smirked and stood up. "You're my fiance now. It's kinda your job to make sure no girls chase me." "You haven't even proposed yet, so technically, you're still not my fiance." He stalked his way towards me. "Proposed or not, do you know we're getting this marriage done right? It's not like we have a choice." I kept taking steps backward but the back of my knee had hit the couch already. I blushed. Now he's too close and I don't know what to say. "Y-you're only u-using me. That's stupid!" I pushed him lightly. He leaned in and I leaned back. I was about to lose my balance but he caught my waist. I blushed even more. He rose a brow. "You okay cherry? You look flushed." He's looking directly at my eyes. He has the prettiest blue eyes. Like the ocean thinly veiled with gray smoke in the morning hours. Like the sea covered with smoke. Our faces are about 4 to 5 inches away. My face was getting warmer and warmer. I pushed him but this time, it worked. I fell off the couch. I huffed. "Quit flirting. And I'm not Cherry." I stood up to leave. He chuckled lowly, "Don't worry, cherry. Your flushed secret is safe with me. Besides, having a blushing fiance might not be very bad." I glared at him before taking hold of my cheek for the warmness. I stomped off to go to the dining room. He followed behind with chuckles. I HATE HIM!
