Chapter Fourteen

Helena could feel her face turn red again. She followed him inside, watching the human from behind him. She rolled her eyes and scoffed as the human began to stare at Xander, fawning over him slightly it seemed. "Die a slow and painful death?" Helena muttered as she turned around to go to her room. She made her bed up and only then did she realize her shirt was covered in blood. "f*****g hell," she cursed. She changed clothes and plopped down on her bed. A thousand images ran through her head, but her mind always traced back to Xander, and about how his life could be ruined at any moment because of Daniel. "Stop it, stop it, STOP IT!!!" She screamed. The wind started howling, and it caused a branch to hit her window, making it shatter. "f**k," she griped. Downstairs, Xander went over the plan with Lily as detailed as possible. She understood her part in this and left to go to sleep again. Xander paceded around the house, thinking about the plan. "Just how are things going to go?" He asked himself as he heard a scream. He realized the voice was Helena's and rushed to her room. He barged through her door. Looking around, he saw that her window was shattered. "What happened here?" He asked as he tried to assess the situation. "A branch... That's all," she replied. He peered out of her window and saw a figure in the shadows. He looked at Helena, smiling at her as he placed a hand on her shoulder. "Wait here until I return, Helena," he said as he leapt out the window and chased after the shadowed figure. Helena stared out after him. She watched him jump out of her window and chase after something, wondering what had happened. Realization set in and she started panicking. "Oh no... Xander!" She shouted. Realization set in that he was chasing after what looked like one of Daniel's followers. She jumped out of the window and flew after him, searching for him. "No! They could kill him!" She cried out. She kept flying through the woods, looking for any sign of him. Then she fell and everything went black. Xander chased the shadowed figure for a while before pinning him against a tree with his sword. "You're a fool to run through my woods. I know these woods better than anyone," Xander said as he clenched his sword and dug it deeper into the tree, making sure the blade cut him slightly. The shadowed figure screamed in agony as Xander continued to dig the sword in deeper. "Tell me, why are you spying on my house?" Xander asked as he continued his interrogation. The figure was a young male, what looked to be an angel. Xander got the information he needed out of him- why he was there and for who- and killed him. He withdrew his sword and made his way back to the house. Another shadowed figure walked up to the now unconscious Helena with a smile of triumph on his face. "I've finally caught you, you disgrace," the man said as he hoisted Helena up on his shoulders and took her away. Xander, sensing something was wrong with Helena, used his enhanced vision to see exactly where she was. He saw that she was being taken and he instantly shot forward, using all of his speed to catch up to them. He drew his sword again and waited at the next tree to face the other shadowed figure. "Drop her now and I might let you live," Xander said in a cold voice. He placed his sword against the man's throat. Helena felt herself hit the hard ground due to the man dropping her and groaned. She looked up at the two men and heard Xander's voice say something about letting the man live. "Xander... Please just go," she breathed out, still barely conscious of what was going on. The man looked down at her and at that moment, Xander chose to attack him. He tackled the man and glared at him. "Don't even BREATHE in her direction, you fool!" He yelled. The man stared into his eyes, smirking. "Why are you defending such a mistake for a life?! She deserves nothing from you, you could do much better than her! Why are you willing to kill over a disgrace? What, do you love her?! She is nothing to us. She should mean nothing to YOU!" The man shouted back. Hearing his words made Xander's blood boil even more. He grit his teeth and slammed his fist into the man's face hard. He swore he heard bones break from the sheer force of his punch, but that could've been his adrenaline running. "You listen here, you son of a b***h! She's someone precious to me. I do not care if she she's a disgrace to you. To me, she's family. She's a part of my coven, and as a rule of our coven, we kill anyone who threatens someone from our family," he said as he punched him again before being kicked off. Xander stood back up almost instantly, ready to attack when he saw the man flying in the air. "So, you're another angel. Perfect! I get to kill another angel," Xander said with a smirk as he drew a bow he had grabbed before leaving the house. He fired an arrow at the angel. "You're going to die here, along with any others who dare to threaten my coven!" Xander yelled as he kept firing arrow after arrow. Helena stood up groggily. She watched as Xander shot arrows at the angel. "No, no, no," she murmured. She finally got her bearings and stumbled over to Xander, tackling him. "NO!!!" She screamed. She looked at him, anger and desperation burning in her eyes. "Don't you dare kill him," she muttered. She pulled his bow out of his hand, standing up. She looked up at the angel, making sure he flew away. Her breathing grew ragged and she fell over, realizing her stomach was bleeding again. She looked into Xander's eyes as he stood up, towering over her. "Helena... Why did you stop me?" Xander asked, his eyes pleading for an answer. Before she could answer, she passed out. Xander saw that she had passed out from blood loss. He ripped off his shirt and tied it around her waist to stop the bleeding. He shrugged his bow onto his back and lifted her up carefully. He began making his way back to the house with questions running through his mind. "I thought I told her to stay inside the house. Foolish girl! But... why did she stop me?" He said to himself as he leapt into her room through her broken window. He placed her down onto her bed and undid the tourniquet he made from his shirt. The blood stopped and he was glad it did. He left the room to find his medical kit, grabbed his surgical equipment, and went back into her room. As he sat down, he lifted her shirt to see the damage that was done and he almost smacked her upside the head while she was unconscious and couldn't hit back. Her wounds had completely busted back open. He knew she needed to feed again, and soon. He used his medical kit to stitch up the wounds. She was not happy about it very much, her groans and movements in her sleep proved that. He stood up and pulled her shirt off, carefully putting a new one on her. He threw the blanket over her and left her room. Helena tossed and turned in her sleep. She had a nightmare about the angel getting shot by Xander, and she shot up in her bed. "DAD, NO!" She screamed. She felt sweat bead down her face as she looked around her room and realized where she was. She breathed heavily as she fell back and stared up at the ceiling. A groan escaped her lips as she closed her eyes, trying to block out the image of Xander shooting arrows at her dad. She toyed with her necklace as she began to sit back up again.
