Chapter Fifteen

1243 Words
Xander was in the living room, watching TV. A sigh escaped his lips as he sunk himself into the couch further. He kept replaying that moment in his head. Helena yelling and grabbing his bow out of his hand with a scared look on her face. He sighed but quickly jumped up when he heard her yells. "Seems she's awake. Time to get answers," he said as he walked to her room. He knocked a few times on the door. "Helena, it's me. I have questions for you," he said through the door. She groaned and turned her head away from the door. "No, go away," she muttered. She rolled over, turning her back towards the door. She didn't want to deal with the questioning but knew she had to. She sighed, got up, and opened her door. Almost immediately, she turned away from him the minute she saw his face. She looked down at the floor. "Just please don't make your little interrogation too long, okay?" She asked. She began to walk away from him. He entered her room and sat down in a chair in the corner. He sighed as he watched her pace around. He was thinking how to ask this question but eventually decided to just ask her bluntly. "Helena, I told you to stay here and not move. But yet you still left the house and stopped me from shooting down that angel. Why did you stop me?" He asked her as he awaited for her answer. She sat down on the floor next to the chair, looking up at him. "That man... He is my father. I couldn't let you kill him... Your turn to answer a few things. Why did you get angry when he called me all of those things? You called me precious to you. Why do you think that?" She could feel her face turning red as she blurted out the words. He sighed as he heard her question. He knew she would ask him about that so he planned this out ahead of time. "The reason why I said you were precious to me is because you're family. You're a part of my coven, a coven that had only one living member until I met you. You are precious to me, Helena. If something were to happen to you, I don't know what I'd do. You're important to not only to the coven, but to me as well," he murmured. He stood up from the chair and knelt beside her. "After all you are my fledgling, and it's my responsibility to make sure you understand what it means to be a vampire," he said with a smirk as he stood back up, turning to leave her room. "However now I understand why you stopped me. Thank you for stopping me, I wouldn't wish the pain I've suffered upon anyone," he whispered. He left her room, closing her door behind him. He went back to the living room to watch TV. She smiled a bit as he left, thankful he understood. Looking around the room, she got an idea. Tiptoeing out to the living room, she sneaked up behind him and wrapped her arms around his arms. She leaned down and whispered to him, resting her head on his shoulder. "Hey Xanderrrrrr. Do you wanna do me a favoooorrrrr?" She asked, acting sweet. She smiled and rested her head on his shoulder. "I'll do whatever you want," she said. She regretted the words as soon as they were out, but knew he wouldn't make her do anything crazy. He had dozed off slightly as he watched TV. He felt her arms wrap around him and his instincts wanted to kick in as she startled him awake, but he fought it back and listened to her. His hand moved up to her arm, unfamiliar with the affection she was showing. But he internally smiled, and decided he liked it. "That depends on the favor, Helena. What exactly do you want?" He asked as he moved his arm and placed his hand on her head and started stroking her hair. He relaxed and enjoyed playing with her hair. It was soft and he liked the color. It was long, and he wanted to braid it for her. "Do you think we could get some paint for the walls in my room? I won't cover the walls completely, and I'll only use one wall. I just need a few colors. I won't make too big of a mess," she asked. She smiled at him running his fingers through her hair, and closed her eyes. He thought about it for a moment. "Yeah, sure. Let's go get the colors now," he replied. Releasing her arms, he got up from the couch and walked into his room. "Might want to change your clothes as well, it started raining," he warned her. Closing the door to his room, he grabbed a change of clothes with his leather jacket. After changing, he stepped out and checked himself to be sure he had everything he would need in case they were attacked. Good. I've got everything I need. He waited on the porch for Helena to come outside. Helena walked into her room and changed into a sweater and some jeans. She put her hair in a ponytail and walked out onto the porch. As she looked up at Xander, she could feel a smile spread across her face. "Thank you. Not just for this but for everything. I'm sorry for snapping at you," she murmured. He waved her off and motioned for her to follow him. "Don't worry about it. I understand exactly why you snapped. If things were switched, I would have done the same," he said as he walked through the forest. Stop lying to yourself. You know would have done far worse than just yell. Grabbing her hand, he used his speed to get to the town. Stopping in front of the hardware store, he noticed that the town was quiet. As he shrugged it off, he entered the store with Helena. "Now, go take your pick of colors. I'll be here waiting for you to return," he said as he sat down in the chair near the door. Xander had a grave feeling about being in the store, but he wouldn't let this stop him from letting Helena have some type of fun. "She deserves it after tonight," he told himself as he kept his guard up. Helena walked around the store, looking for an array of paints. She knew what she wanted to do and was hoping Xander would like it. A groan escaped her mouth. "Stop worrying about what he's going to think, for f**k's sake!" She muttered. She shook her head and walked up towards the g*n display. She admired them, wishing she could learn how to shoot one. She felt goosebumps cover her body, and the hair on the back of her neck stood on end. As she looked up at her reflection in the g*n case, her eyes met with the bright blue eyes of Daniel. She turned around quickly, her eyes searching in panic. He wasn't anywhere in sight. "Where are you?!" She shouted. She stepped away from the g*n display and yelped. Daniel appeared behind her, grabbed the back of her neck, and pinned her hands behind her. She let out a scream. "Xander! He's here!" She choked out.
