All I could think in that moment was how lucky we were that we were the only ones present in the home. If Alpha and Luna weren’t at work, or baby Ginger at daycare, or the two maids running errands- who knows who I would be answering to at this moment?  Kale hissed as he touched his bleeding chest, “You could’ve killed me Lyndon” Lyndon looked at the marks in disgust. When an Alpha harms another wolf, it takes longer than usual to heal. If his wolf allowed, Lyndon could’ve very well killed his older brother.  “Now let me get this straight,” Kale began, “So you find out you’re mates. Lyndon rejects you. You slap him. f**k up his car. Then boom, you land right here as his maid?” Lyndon and I looked to one another and nodded, as if for reassurance that Kale had the full story. Kale began to laugh causing Lyndon and I to growl simultaneously. From our first interaction, I didn’t expect for Kale to be so silly.  “So?”, Lyndon urged cutting off his brother’s throaty laughter. Kale furrowed his brows, “So?” “So are you going to explain why I almost killed you?”, Lyndon questioned.  Kale looked around then shrugged, “I’m supposed to know?”  He continued to chuckle. Lyndon then slammed his hand onto the island causing the both of us to jump.  Kale put his hands up in surrender and rolled his eyes, “Alright cowboy” Kale shifted his body from one leg to the other before hissing in pain. “Don, I’m just going to go ahead and be straight with you”, Kale trailed, “You f****d up” He scoffed out a giggle before holding his hands up once again, “I mean, did you really think a couple words were going to stop a soul bond that was created in the beginning of time” Kale laughed once again, “Don, your wolf and her wolf are one in the same. Yin and yang. Her existence literally increases your power and you thought your wolf was going to give that up?”  Kale tilted and shook his head at Lyndon, “Our human side only holds so much control over our actual existence. When you reject your mate, you begin an internal war with your wolf. A war over control- which is why you just f*****g attacked me and didn’t know-“ Kale stopped and shifted his gaze towards me, “-Do you know why a wolf has to become Omega after an Alpha rejects them?”  I shook my head in response, “It’s a way to trick his wolf into believing his mate died or doesn’t exist. Because the mere scent, presence, and thought of his mate existing and him not existing with her weakens an Alpha which ultimately weakens his pack” My heart clenched at the sight of my possible future.  Lyndon shook his head in disbelief drawing Kales attention back to him, “Kale, that’s bullshit. Everything you’re saying. And besides, I don’t feel any less powerful” Kale narrowed his eyes towards his brother in annoyance, “You calling bullshit is the equivalent to humans denying our existence. And if anything, you’re more powerful now than before because she’s 2 feet away from you and your wolf can feel that she’s here” “Wait-“, Kale raised his eyebrow and rubbed the stubble on his jaw. A glint of disappointment and amusement in his eyes, “-Don, did you think you would have been able to take me in any other circumstance?”  Kale re-commenced his hysterical laughter before groaning in pain. Lyndon looked around at the ground as if in deep thought and I did the same confused as to what any of this meant for me.  “So what the f**k am I supposed to do now?”, Lyndon once again interrupted.  Kale grinned, “I don’t know. But I would advise you both not to tell Alpha and Luna Young until you either accept Psycho here, or decide to cast her out”  Those two options being the only ones struck fear in me. The fate of my future and existence was left in the hands of this d**k who saw his high school peak as a prize in life.  Lyndon’s jaw clenched in aggravation and, if I weren’t deep into my own thoughts, I would have almost saw it as sexy.  Kale let out a relieved sigh when his last wound cleared. He then went into the fridge to grab a bottle of water before leaving Lyndon and I to our own devices. I looked at my phone to see 12:59pm looking back at me. Three more hours.  Lyndon ran his hand through his hair which caused me to observe the apparent vein in his forearm.  My wolf moaned and I swallowed in disgust. The tension between us held thick as neither one of us knew what to say. I mean, what could be said? He had a decision to make and no f****d up car, shouting, or amount of tears could make it for him. I walked over to the island where I found my highlighted list for the day.  Sort the Wine in the Cellar Clean Ginger’s Room- “Ava”, My ears perked, “I’m-“ The doorbell interrupted Lyndon and caused our heads to snap in it’s direction. I originally assumed that it was one of the other maids, but by the look on Lyndon’s face, I wouldn’t be more wrong.
