SABRINA POV:
Turning around, there was James eyeing me from the hedges.
I turned to try the doorknob again, but it wouldn't budge.
"Little Red... " James was on me, I could feel his heat against my backside.
"Please... go away... "
He chuckled, "Why? You don't wanna have some fun with the big, bad wolf?"
I turned around and glared at him.
"Do you want to lose those digits this time?"
James smiled, "Feisty. I like it."
"How'd you even get past the guards and why do you smell like a distillery?"
I wrinkled my nose as he loomed over me.
"Still my brave little red even without her mates here, huh?"
"Mates?"
"Oh shit.." James hollered into the night sky, "Did you hear that, boys?! She's still a virgin! Hot diggity dog!"
"I-I never said that... " I blushed, wishing that the Quads would show up.
"Honey, you don't have to."
"I'll scream!" I warned.
I heard more howls and then James yanked me up by my waist and threw me over his shoulders.
"No!!" I kicked and screamed and punched and I even bit him in the shoulder.
"Woman, I like it rough so you're just turning me on even more.."
I heard shuffling in the distance and there appeared one, two... a dozen stray dogs...or what I thought they were.
"We're gonna have so much fun with you, Red... " James snickered, "What should we name our first born?"
"Our what?!" I yelped, "Let me go! You're drunk and insane!"
"You're going to be a great Queen!" James stumbled, nearly dropping me.
"Oh my God! Just let me go. You don't even know where you're going. There's wild dogs over there!"
I was too exhausted to keep fighting him,but I didn't have to. He stopped when he heard the Impala.
"Oh f**k!" He didn't have time to put me down so he stood there like a deer waiting to be hit by their car and I swear Xander didn't stop until he brake right before hitting us.
I turned away to brace for impact when the screeching stopped and James decided it was a good idea to toss me on top of the hood of Xander's car.
I fell like a sack of potatoes.. sliding off as the boys scrambled out of the car and checked on me.
I haven't the slightest clue what prompted me, but I found myself chasing after James, not worrying about the pack of dogs staring at us as we ran.
I could feel the Quads behind me and hear them calling for me, but my heart kept telling me to go
Faster. Faster. Faster.
Over hedges and tree roots, scaling a wall, running along the river bank, through the forest, onto the path leading to the Mueller's property until...
I stopped suddenly.
I couldn't go on his property.
Neither could the Quads.
I wasn't even out of breath as we watched James walk backwards towards his house, keeping an eye on me.
I was standing in front of the Quads who were watching my every move.
"Let's go home."
AUTHOR'S--THIRD PERSON POV:
"What the f**k just happened?"
Hudson, who'd collapsed on the living room couch, panted.
"She out ran us!" He groaned, "In human form!
Sabrina tapped on the door and the Quads almost knocked each other over to reach her.
"Hey, so your dad called the police," She said, her robe still in tatters, her hair a mess–little specks of dirt splashed across her face, "They're not much help."
"Did you file charges against James?"
"I did... " Sabrina said, "But something tells me that it doesn't matter. They took him in,but who knows? Your dad produced the camera footage and everything. I just wanted to say thank you for trying to get back as soon as you could. "
She turned to go and then looked around at the living room.
"This is so stupid, but can we stay in here tonight? Together?" Sabrina blushed, "Just to sleep?"
"Of course," Xander said, "We're your, -"
"Friends!" Sebastian cut off his brother, "We're your friends, Sabrina. We're here for you. "
Sabrina beamed, "My friends?"
"For eternity.. " Hudson replied.
SABRINA POV:
When everyone had showered and I returned to the living room with my pillows and blankets, plus my nightgown with sweats underneath, I was happy to see the guys waiting for me.
"We made a thick pallet," Seb said, "You want the middle?"
I blushed, "Sure. I just hope I don't snore. "
Xander reminded me that I had a soft snore and that bought him another smack on the head by Sebastian.
"Do you ever get a concussion?"
"Probably what's wrong with him now,* Quinn said, settling into the bedding, "Too many times being dropped on his head."
I crawled into the pallet with my pillows and blanket.
"I wish I'd had siblings," I told them.
"No, you don't.." They moaned collectively.
I laughed, "Why?"
Xander crawled in next to me, "You have to share everything. "
Quinn moved over so Sebastian could crawl in, Hudson flopped down on the other side of Xander.
"We decided one of us would be home with you at all times until the Mueller thing blows over," Quinn said.
I sighed, "I'm sorry I've been such a burden... "
"No," Xander ran his hand over my cheek, "Don't ever say that, don't even think about it."
"We brought you here, Sabrina," Hudson said, "Mueller's a prick."
"Well, I appreciate it... " I turned to Q, "I can't dance. "
Quinn grinned at me.
"To the ballroom!"
"So, what you have to do is not step on my feet so much," He grinned as I stepped on his feet once again.
"So sorry!" I frowned, "I really am. "
"I know you've got rhythm because you're a musician. Plenty of old time waltzes happening at Molly's party so if you want to be prepped, we'll start slow. Put on Swan Lake, Seb."
The music started playing again and I was whisked away in Q's arms as the others watched from the sidelines.
He taught me some steps over and over again. I couldn't get enough of his touch, his strong arms wrapped around me, his blue eyes staring into mine.
"Samantha and my mother want to take you shopping for a gown," He told me, "I hope you're OK with that?"
I nodded, smiling, "I am very happy."
"You are very humble, Sabrina," Q told me, "I can't believe how cruel we were to you."
I shrugged, "You weren't so bad, Quinn. Not as bad as some of the other people."
AUTHOR'S—THIRD PERSON POV:
"No one knew..." Xander said as he and his other brothers watched Q and Sabrina dance, "No one knew who she was, but she was treated like shit."
"Bro, we treated all of the humans like s**t," Seb reminded him, "We didn't want this for them. We didn't want to be cruel, we just know that this side of the Realm is also dangerous for anyone who isn't us..."
"The will?"
"I doubt it's authentic, but I've no idea where else she would go. I don't recall hearing Gilda and Jerome discuss any relatives, but they're full-blooded humans so I never cared."
Hudson nodded, "I remember seeing a little red-headed girl over there one weekend. It was probably 12 years ago so she was 6,7? Gilda and Jerome looked disgusted, but they looked like it was a reunion of some sorts—like trying too hard."
"I am going to look up Hannah and Milo again," Seb said, "I know the Council is looking into it, too. We'll get these questions answered. She's going to need all of the truth."
"They have to let us show her,"Xander said, "If they can get to the Queen, they can get back to us asap."
SABRINA'S POV:
"Thank you for showing me some moves, Q," I smiled, "I truly appreciate it."
Q nodded, "Anything for you, Sabrina."
"James said something strange outside to me," I said, "Why did he call me your mate?"
"Mate...like friend, I suppose," Q shrugged, not taking his eyes off of me, "James was drunk—he's dangerous, but like you surmised, the police don't do much to the families who run the town."
"Speaking of running, I don't know what got into me!"I laughed, "I've never felt like I could fly like that..like...like a wolf or something."
"Wolves go about 40 miles per hour," Q grinned, "Werewolves can go even faster," He winked, nodding at Xander.
"I heard that," Xander smiled.
"Werewolves aren't real..." I shuddered, "However, these stray dogs are driving me crazy."
"We're taking care of them."
"Don't hurt them! I don't want innocent puppies killed."
I got some laughs from the others as Q glared at them.
"Don't worry. No innocent puppies will be killed," He stopped twirling me as we began to sway, "You are the most beautiful girl in the world, Sabrina."
I blushed, "I am sure you say that to the other girls I've seen you with, Q."
Quinn shrugged, "Well, call me a cad, but I didn't mean it when I said it to them."
Our swaying slowed and smiled at him.
"Kiss me on the lips this time, Quinn."
His eyes narrowed, his gaze turning lustful as we waltzed out of the room and onto the balcony. The moonlight shone down on us as he dipped me, slowly and planted his lips on mine, so sweetly, so gentle. I felt every fiber of my being collapse with a warm sigh.
Lifting me back up, he held on to me as we glimpsed the moon.
"I've always wanted to dance underneath the stars, Quinn."
"As long as you're with us, there won't be a night when you don't."
