James was grateful as the butler chose that moment to approach them. “My lord, is there a problem with this footman?” “Yes, there is. I want to have a word with his employer, and he is refusing to tell me if he’s employed by the Duke of Warwick or someone else,” Lord Wickford told the butler. “I beg your pardon, my lord, but I have no interest in seeking employment elsewhere,” Jamie said, working hard to keep his face completely bland as befitted a proper footman. He was pretty sure some of the anger he was feeling at Wickford’s ridiculous proposition
