LOST CHASING THE SUN

Reality sink in...

Six months later, it's me against the world. I do want to get my brothers back, but the state of this world is disheartening. What will I give them? I barely survive on my own, so it is better the government takes care of them .

I've been sleeping in my car for the past few months. I parked my car close to an old industrial site and dug up my own sewer hole, close to my car for defecation. So far I have never heard from Misha but I bet she is probably living the scientific life she always wanted. I do want to die now, but how can I die when I don't know whether my brothers are living a healthy life or not? If I find out, I will be ready to leave this world.

The last six months were horrifying, the sun lost its red and it became dark. Now the world is just dark and we are all searching for light. Electricity died after the hunter tacks destroyed the main source, I believe. I decided from that day that I would be staying in my car for the rest of the months and my food supply was enough for the months. I woke up to a sound of breaking tree twigs nearby. I crawled to my car's front seat and I accidentally honked the car with my head. Because it was dark , I only saw the red eyes of the two creatures. They circled around my car as if they were trying to break in. My heart was pounding, sweat running down my temples. One of the creatures emerged from the nearby bush and walked straight to my driver's window side. I started at the red eyes and it was staring at me too. My car windows are dark tinted so I dint think the creature could see me .

I tilted my head to the right and so it did because its eyes shifted to the right too.At that moment I knew I was going to die, but I promised myself that I was not dying until I saw my brothers...

I put my seat belt on quietly and slowly. The creatures got distracted and lost their focus, moving a little distant from me . I started my car and drove off. The hunter tacs came following me from behind. They were really fast and I lost my way. I found myself driving through a dirt road.

I managed to get onto the main road and, to my horror, there was a very huge wall , and a large long fence at a distance that separated my side from the other side.The fence shielded the huge wall . I looked behind me and there were many more hunter tacks following me. Four men guarding the fence opened it up for me and I drove through it. The men closed the gate and covered themselves with shields. The hunter tacks jumped on the fence and many of them got electrocuted flying on the ground.The whole experience was shocking. I got out of the car ...

“ ho .. how... did .. you guys do that?," I asked them, shaking .

“This has been on for months now. Where are you coming from," one of the men asked.

“ I've been living in my car for months, close to the old industrial site," I replied.

“ I am Dominic and these are my team mates ," he said, shaking my hand .

“So how did you guys know I was coming?," I asked them .

“Oh , we guard the gates on a daily basis, just in case there are refugees like you coming in," he said.

“ I am not a refugee," I protested. “What's up with the wall," I asked.

“There are four of these walls around our country, people are separated according to their classes and we are the protectors of the country," Kevin ( one of the men said).

“ wow I really did miss a lot of things ha ," I said.b

“Well, we are now confiscating your car ," Dominic said.

“What ! you can't do that, it's not fair. This is my only hope,"I yelled.

“Lady ! We saved you from the hunter tacs so you have to repay us," Dominic said.

“ I didn't ask for protection, I survived six months with those creatures. I didn't even know that things were like this," I said.

“We are taking the car," he ordered with a straight face .

“ you are all going to regret this , something greater from that side is coming," I said . they laughed at me ..

“ this is the greatest fence of protection nothing surpasses it ," Michael said.

“ oh really, I've been out there for six months in darkness, I saw what I saw, no one is safe ," I said .

“ lady get inside the wall before, something crazy happens ," Dominic said snatching my car keys from my hand .

“ you are all going to die ," I cursed at them in anger .

I walked passed the great wall of protection and I saw a group of soldiers training young girls and boys how to fight. Everything was different, the area had lights , at every distance, there were expensive food stalls around , some people slept outside, people were in free food lines that were provided by the privileged, An old macdonald was being used as a health center. I got in line for the free food because I was really starving. it was so disheartening how the country changed in only a period of six months. I wonder what things would be looking like in six years.

There was a sudden sound alarm and everyone knelt on the ground to cover their eyes . I just knelt down and dint cover my face. All of a sudden, the red sun appeared and everyone got up to celebrate. Because the earth was then covered in light . The light was not as bright as before ( before the experiment) but the lighting made sense.

“You should cover your face or else you will end up like the light Hardlets ," a girl behind me warned .

“ ahhh ! what's a light hardlet... ?," I asked her .

“ it is believed once this light enters your eyes , it affects your neurons and then a bacteria grows into your brain. You start going crazy and become a tact ," she said , her face was covered with dirt .

“ so you celebrate when the sun is out , what difference does it make ?," I asked the kid .

“ well...

“ haven't I taught you not to talk to to strangers," a grumpy lady pulled the kid and gave me an ugly stare .

“ don't you know that conversations with strangers are restricted,?" she asked me with a snide on her face .

“ I apologize... I just wanted to know," I said stammering.

The time I reached the food stalls, the food was finished.

“ sorry lady food is finished you can wait for next week," the man said , packing up the food trays.

“ next week ? , I would be dead by then ," I said with a pale mouth.

“ sorry, it's how things are nowadays, but u will survive," he said .

I looked into my pockets, I managed to find a ten dollars. I walked towards the expensive food shelter and I managed to buy a hamburger and cold drink.

“ it's crazy how things changed that fast hey ?," I said to the sale's person.

“ yeah !, crazy ,are you new here ?," the girl asked me.

“yeah, I've been living in my car for months, " I said, sitting on the ground next to the girl .

“ wow ! how was life on the other side bet it's better than here ," she said.

“ uh no ! it wasn't better but all I can say is non of us are safe for long , great terror is coming," I said.

“ what's out there can't be worse than situations this side ," she said.

“ what do you mean?," I asked the girl .

she sat next to me and kept on looking around.

“ no one is safe on this side of the wall, many people die more than we get attacked by the hunter tacs. I think people are being used as science projects," she said.

“ what do you mean science projects?," I asked her confused.

“ they steal people at night and transport them over the other sides of the walls and they use the people as specimen," she said.

“ how did you know all this ?," I asked her.

“ I've seen what I have seen ," she said, she stood up to serve the soldiers from the fence free food.

“ what are you ladies talking about ," Dominic asked.

I gave him an ugly stare .

“ hey new girl I hope you aren't here to cause trouble," he said giving me a wink .

The gate to the other side of the wall , opened up and a large familiar truck and five SUVS passed through to our side . The commander of the army walked towards the black SUV and a lady with light blue high heels , a white suit and a lab coat on top got out of the car . I couldn't see properly because the crowd of people was obstructing my view.

“ I heard you boys manged to trap a few of my projects," she said. The voice was familiar too.

“ yes this way please so that we talk about it in private," The army commander said.

“ mam, mam we need food ," one of the old men said .

“ Michael, get the food supplies out of the truck," she ordered.

Four men walked in front of her and two men behind her holding guns walking towards the army commanders office.

After a while they got out of the office, and the truck loaded all three dead hunter tacks before heading off . The food supply was taken to the main kitchen to prepare food for the people.

“ I can't stand her," the sales girl said.

“ who is she ?," I asked her .

“ she works for BLUE, she is one of the captains," the girl replied.

“ well she looks like she has a good heart ," I said .

“ don't let charity work fool you , she is not what she seems ," the girl bitterly said.

“ any ways I am Zeir nice to meet you," I said.

she gave me a ugly stare before shaking my dirty hand . “ I am Crystal," she said.

One night a group of rebellious people,three men and two ladies, woke me up . “ hey hey, !,” they whispered .

“ what ?," I asked .

“ we are going to escape tonight, we can't live here tell us what's on the other side," one of the men protested .

“ you can't go out there, not without a car , it's too risky ," I said trying to warn them of the unseen danger.

“ we don't need a car we have our feet's for the job ," one the lady's said.

“ you guys are going to get yourselves killed , it's not safe I swear ," I protested .

“ look young lady ! what ever is out there can't be worse than what we face in here , if we die we die but we die trying now tell us ," one the man said.

“ fine !.. but I am not part of this , there are food store, empty houses , electric generators , and there is the green qum neighborhood it's located in a very quite area in the woods... but you have to be.careful there are weird creatures I've never seen ," I said .

“ how do we get to the neighborhood," one of the men asked ?," .

“ you guys are going to need a ride but if on feet I'd advise you walk by the river path it's much safer but I don't guarantee you will return alive ," I said.

“ we are not returning kid , we are going forever," one of the men said ..

“ fine let's go , you are going to get us through the fence , " one of the ladies said.

we walked quietly and arrived by the gate that led to the fence,

“ we can't pass through, the guards are on guard ," I complained.

“ you are worried about that , tell us who has the keys ," the lady ordered.

“ it's the guy with blue eyes he keeps it in his left back pocket," I said.

the naughty lady burnt an incense and threw it to the guard side .

“ good ! that will hold them fast asleep in the next three hours," she said

“ how long is it going to take Sheila ," one of the men asked .

“ oh ! shut up Jared it's only a few minutes left until they doze off ," Sheila said.

After a few minutes the guard started dozing off, we slyly passed to the guards area , took the keys from the guys and I opened the fence for the gang .

“ okay guys remember don't make noise," I said .

“ wait a minute, what about that master piece right there," Sheila's boyfriend asked pointing at the parked car .

“ uh! no that's my car it's going nowhere," I protested.

“ lady give us the car , you want us to die out there ," Sheila protested.

“guys listen that's my only car , I am not giving it to anyone," I protested.

“ give me the keys !" Sheila ordered giving me a deadly stare .

“ fine !," I surrendered the key ?️ to her .

they drove the car pass the main fence .

“ aren't you coming,?" Sheilas boyfriend asked.

“ uhh no ," I said .

The gang drove off making freedom happy noise .

I closed and locked off the gate and snuck my way back to where everyone

was sleeping.

I dozed off really hard I woke up the next, and there was chaos around the camp .

The army commander and some of the soldiers were escorting people to the safety point .

What's going on ," I asked one of the civilians.

“ some people broke through the main fence but they didn't make it alive ... one of them returned with one arm and an eye missing ," he replied.

“ they caught a weird creature , more evolved worse than the hunter tacs."crystal added.

I knew at that point it was the mischievous gang .

I walked towards the fence to see the creature.

the dead body was covered with a white blanket and the creature was lying on the ground.

The SUVs and a large truck came to collect the creature.The lady from the previous event walked out of her car and the soldiers covered her as they walked to the commanders office. Ms Mac- gradams got out off the black SUVs .

“ soldiers load thecreature for me please," she odered the soldiers. The soldiers started poking on the creature to see if it was really dead .

“ I wonder what they do to this creatures," crystal said.

“ they experiment and see how stuff goes," I said.

“ we need to get to other side of the wall , maybe it's more safe " she said .

“ nowhere is safe ," I said ignoring her .

“ Madam we can load the creature," one of the scientist ladies asked. I looked at her at realized it was Misha .

“Misha hi ," I ran towards her .

but the soldiers guarded her .

“ please keep the civilians away from us," she ordered the soldiers.

“ civilians??,Misha it's me .. Zeir," I said.

“ oh !Zeir unfortunately you are dead to me and you smell awful," she said walking towards her boss .

“ you know her??," Crystal asked.

“ yeah she is my best friend," I said .

“ more of old best friends,,, so what happened," she asked .

“ it's a long story," I said.

“ by the way you smell fine ," crystal said.

“ thanks ,, Misha was being mean ," I said.

we watched as the creature was being loaded into the truck,. middle way through loading the creature spit a white slimy substance from it's anus .

“ that creature is not dead ," I protested to the army commander who was standing with Macgradams.

“ stay away civilian," The commander ordered.

“ I swear that creature is not dead I know what it can do I've seen it ," I yelled.

I started causing a commotion but the commander ignored me and closed the creature in the truck. Mac-gradams and Misha got into their cars and started driving off.

“ I swear that creature is not dead ," I yelled at the commander.

“ who do you think you are lady , David Blaine??.. This is science not child's play," he said.

“ you are all going to die ," I yelled at him .

“ you are mad , we killed it ," he yelled back at me .

“ well it's going to...

Before I could finish my sentence the creature broke though the truck, the soldiers opened fire at he creature , it let out a loud ugly cry. Destroy everything it saw.. the army commander got into his truck and followed the others through the other side of the wall ,, ,I pulled crystal by hand as we jumped behind the army commanders back truck , we watched in horror as many hunter tacks came from the wall fence side to kill everyone.
