Chapter 16I was surprised that the phone still worked. Most people had abandoned their landlines in favor of cell phones, but I’ve heard that some seniors are allowed to keep their phones. This went right through. It rang three times before an older woman’s voice answered.
“Ms. Murphy?” I began, “This is Montgomery Cleaver. I’m sorry to bother you but I was hoping you’d talk to me about my aunt.”
“Montgomery? Montie? Of course, I’ll talk with you.”
“Really? You know who I am?”
“Yes, JL said you’d probably be in touch. I’m surprised you know who I am. JL wrote to me just three weeks ago and told me you had visited her. I’d love to meet you, Montie. Where are you now?”
