Part I
(The administrative office of Seoul University is spacious, with neatly arranged desks and soft lighting. A large window allows sunlight to stream in, giving the room a wa Reem ambiance. Neuw and his mother, step inside, both dressed neatly for the occasion. Neuw's Mother holds a file containing Neuw's documents, while Neuw glances around, taking in his new surroundings. He feels a mix of excitement and nervousness—this is the first step into his college life.)
(A staff member gestures for them to take a seat. Soon, Mr. Choi, the head of student affairs, enters. He is a middle-aged man with a welcoming expression. He sits across from them, adjusting his glasses before offering a polite smile.)
Mr. Choi: "Good morning! How can I assist you?"
Neuw's Mom: "Good morning. My son, Neuw, is moving into the hostel today. We just wanted to confi Reem the details before we proceed."
Mr. Choi: (Nods) "Of course. The hostel is within the campus, with round-the-clock security. First-year students have a curfew at 10 PM, and the warden is always available if he needs anything."
Neuw's Mom: "That's good to know. And meals?"
Mr. Choi: "The cafeteria provides three meals a day, and students can choose from different menu options."
Neuw: (Leaning forward slightly) "What about roommates?"
Mr. Choi: "Room assignments are done in advance, but if there are any major issues, changes can be requested after a month."
Neuw's Mom: "And in case of medical emergencies?"
Mr. Choi: "We have an infi Reemary on campus for minor health issues, and for anything serious, students are taken to the nearby hospital. Parents are info Reemed immediately."
Neuw's Mom: (Sighs in relief) "That's reassuring. Everything sounds well-organized."
Neuw: (Smiles) "Yeah, I think I'll be fine."
Mr. Choi: "Great! Let's finish the paperwork, and then I'll have someone guide you to the hostel."
(Neuw's Mom signs the documents while Neuw listens attentively. Once everything is complete, they step out, ready to move Neuw into his new home away from home.)
Neuw in hostel
(Neuw drags his suitcase along the quiet hallway as the warden leads him to his room. The air smells faintly of fresh paint and wooden furniture. The hostel is still relatively empty since students have arrived a few days early before classes begin. The distant sound of other students talking and doors opening and closing echoes through the corridor. Neuw's heart pounds with a mix of excitement and nervousness. Moving away from Busan was a big step, and though he was eager to start this new chapter, the thought of living with a stranger made him slightly anxious.)
(The warden finally stops in front of a door labeled "Room 207" and pulls out a key.)
Warden: (turning to Neuw with a kind smile) "This is your room, 207. Your roommate, Dee, arrived yesterday. You'll be sharing this space, so I hope you two get along."
(Neuw nods, gripping the handle of his suitcase a little tighter. The warden unlocks the door and gestures for him to enter before walking away to continue his rounds. Taking a deep breath, Neuw steps inside.)
(The room is simple but comfortable—two single beds placed against opposite walls, a shared desk in the middle, and a tall wooden wardrobe near the door. One side is already occupied, clothes neatly stacked on the shelf, a few posters taped to the wall, and a backpack resting on the chair. A boy with messy brown hair, wearing a loose t-shirt and sweatpants, is lounging on his bed, twirling a pen between his fingers.)
(The boy looks up at Neuw and grins widely.)
Dee: (grinning) "Oh, new roommate! Hey, I'm Dee-Jun, but call me Dee."
(Neuw blinks at the sudden enthusiasm but quickly recovers, bowing slightly as he introduces himself.)
Neuw: "Nice to meet you. I'm Neuw."
DEE: (grinning wider) "Neuwaah! You look like a soft mochi."
(Neuw freezes mid-step, eyes widening in disbelief.)
Neuw: (pouting) "Yah! We just met! Don't give me weird nicknames already."
DEE: (laughing) "Too late! You're officially Neuwaah now."
(Neuw huffs, but the playful energy in Dee's voice makes it hard to be annoyed. He walks over to the empty bed and starts unpacking his clothes, neatly placing them inside the wardrobe while Dee watches him with a curious expression.)
DEE: "Where are you from, Neuwaah?"
Neuw: "Busan. You?"
DEE: (dramatically) "Daegu! We're both from the South! It's fate."
(Neuw shakes his head at Dee's theatrics but can't help smiling. There's something about Dee's energy that instantly makes the room feel less foreign. As the evening goes on, Dee keeps throwing random questions at Neuw, making conversation effortless. They talk about their favorite foods, music, and their excitement (and slight fear) about starting college.)
(The next morning, Dee insists that Neuw explore the campus with him, saying they should familiarize themselves with their new home. Despite Neuw's protests about wanting to sleep in, Dee practically drags him out of bed.)
DEE: (excitedly) "Neuwaah, we're college students now! We have to act like it!"
Neuw: (grumbling) "College students also need sleep."
DEE: "Nope. Exploring comes first."
(They walk through the vast campus, passing by the lecture halls, library, and different department buildings. The sun shines brightly, and there's a slight chill in the air. A few other early students are strolling around, some taking pictures, others sitting on the benches chatting.)
DEE: "This place is huge! We're definitely going to get lost at some point."
Neuw: (laughing) "Let's just hope we don't get lost on the first day of class."
DEE: "If we do, I'll just blame you."
Neuw: (gasping) "Yah! Why me?!"
DEE: (grinning) "Because you look like the type who would panic and drag me in the wrong direction."
(Neuw rolls his eyes but laughs, realizing he already feels more comfortable than he expected. Neuw and Dee become very good friends)
In first day college:
(Neuw and Dee step into the university hallway for the first time, wide-eyed as they take in the buzzing atmosphere. Students rush past them, some excited, some nervous. Dee clings to Neuw's a Reem, whispering dramatically.)
DEE: "Neuwaah, I have a bad feeling about today. What if we get eaten alive by the seniors?"
Neuw: (rolling his eyes) "Yah, we're here to study, not enter a battlefield. Just walk confidently, and no one will bother us."
(Just as Neuw says this, they hear a loud voice booming from the front of the hallway.)
REEM: "Ah, fresh meat! First-years, assemble!"
(Dee stiffens beside Neuw as a group of final-year seniors stand confidently, smirking. REEM, keen, and AK are at the front, with Tao, Mai, woo, and Yeon standing beside them, observing.)
DEE: (whispering in panic) "Oh no, Neuwaah! We're doomed! That's Reem sunbae. He's famous for making first-years do ridiculous things!"
Neuw: (crossing his a Reems) "Tch. They're just humans, Dee. Not gods."
(Neuw and Dee have no choice but to step forward as REEM gestures toward them.)
REEM: "Well, well, what do we have here? Two fresh little ducklings lost on their first day?"
Keen: (grinning) "They look innocent. Let's test their loyalty to the seniors!"
(Tao watches silently, his eyes lingering on Neuw's unimpressed expression. woo nudges him slightly, smirking.)
woo: (whispering) "He's got attitude. I like him."
Tao: (grumbling) "Tch. He's just another first-year."
REEM: (clapping hands) "Alright! You two! What are your names?"
DEE: (bowing quickly) "T-DeeJun, but you can call me Dee, sunbaenim!"
Neuw: (calmly) " Neuw. And you don't have to shout, Bro, I can hear just fine."
(Tao raises an eyebrow at Neuw's tone. The other seniors chuckle, amused.)
AK: (grinning) "Oh, this one has some fire!"
REEM: "Alright, since you two are so special, let's play a little game. Dee, you first! You see that tree outside?" (points out the window) "Go there and confess your undying love to it. Hug it and promise to never leave it."
(Dee pales instantly.)
DEE: (whispering in horror) "Neuwaah, I can't! What if someone sees me? What if the tree rejects me?!"
Neuw: (facepalming) "Yah, you sound like a rejected drama character."
REEM: "Hurry up, Dee! Unless you want to clean the cafeteria for a week."
(Dee yelps and runs outside, dramatically hugging the tree.)
DEE: "Oh mighty tree! You are my only love! I swear to never leave you! Even if the wind blows, my heart remains rooted to you!"
(The seniors burst out laughing while some passing students stop to stare at Dee in confusion.)
Keen: "Ahaha! That's gold!"
(Dee runs back, hiding behind Neuw, his face red with embarrassment.)
REEM: "Good job, good job. Now, Neuw. Since you have such a sharp tongue, let's see how sharp your dance skills are. Dance right here, right now."
Neuw: (raising an eyebrow) "Hmm? But why should I?"
REEM: (smirking) "Because I said so. Or are you scared?"
Neuw: (scoffing) "Please. I don't dance for free. But I'll show you a little taste."
(Without waiting, Neuw smoothly moves into a short but impressive dance move, spinning on his feet effortlessly and ending with a playful wink.)
AK: (clapping) "Ooooh, this kid has talent!"
woo: (grinning) "I like him more now."
(Tao watches quietly, his lips twitching into a smile for a brief second before he quickly wipes it away.)
REEM: "Fine, fine, you're off the hook. But next time, don't be so cocky."
Neuw: (shrugging) "I wasn't being cocky. Just confident."
(Dee, still traumatized, quickly grabs Neuw's hand and pulls him toward the classroom.)
DEE: (whispering urgently) "Neuwaah, let's go before they make me propose to a rock!"
Neuw: (laughing) "Alright, alright."
(As they walk away, Dee sighs in relief.)
DEE: "Neuwaah, you were amazing back there. If it weren't for you, I'd be engaged to that tree by now!"
