“Rules of the contract?” I asked with raised eyebrows. “What's the meaning of this?” I said angrily. Who did he think he was?

“Yeah, I set rules for the contract just in case you end up loving me and going overboard?" I hardly laughed. He looked confused by my sudden outburst.

“Me? Fall in love with you. You think so highly of yourself " I said, staring him in the eye, not batting my eyelids.

“You are the first woman to resist me this way, but I take it you are the competitive type. It's good you know why you are here in the first place", he said coldly.

“As if I have a choice of my own " I scoffed.

“Before I proceed with reading, these rules you have sent. I guess an introduction would be better. How about we start with our names? I know we will get to know ourselves better later. I'm Scarlett McWarner ", I said with a smile.

“Ryan Walton, but just call me Ryan. Can we continue already? I don't have all day". He dismissed the conversation..................

Scarlett had lost all hope when her mother died from leukemia. Her dad had turned her into a punching bag out of resentment. What happens when her dad makes a mistake which results in her giving up her happiness to be with an unknown man. They say Ryan is someone not to be trifled with. No one messes with the billionaire and goes Scot free. Would this loveless marriage lead to a happy ending?

Flashback
Trudy's POV It was on a sunny day, after school, when this misfortune happened. I had come back from school as usual and greeted my mom who was busy in the kitchen preparing dinner. After I had gone to change from my outfit, I headed into the kitchen to assist my mom with preparing dinner. “How was school today?",my mom asked while I was chopping the veggies. “It was as usual not bad". I replied, continuing with what I was doing. It was the noise of the pot falling on the floor that made me stop what I was doing. I looked at my mom, who seemed to be in pain. “Mum, what's wrong?". I asked, worried, hurriedly rushing to her side. My mom flashed me a weak smile. It was there I realized that something was wrong. That's when I noticed mum's pale appearance. I guided her to the chair near the kitchen island. My mom, being as stubborn as, always wanted to prove to me there was nothing wrong with her and I was overthinking, but I have had enough of that. My mom suddenly coughed and I had to pass the kitchen tissue over to her. What I realized crumbled my whole world, my mom had coughed blood. I couldn't help but shed tears knowing my mom's life was on the hold. I was ten when my mom was diagnosed with leukemia. We had tried anything possible but we couldn't find a matching stem cell transplant for my mom.
