Chapter 1
He is dying” That was the word that jolted Aria up from her sleep.
Her eyes darted through the room, shock decorating her face. She took in the white walls, the flowery curtains, the white tiles and…
Her heart thumped in her chest as she slowly stood up from the bed. Her reflection stared back at her in the mirror.
Purple love bites littered her pale skin, her naked body glared at her, as if accusing her of last night.
Her eyes widened as she wrapped the blanket tightly over her body. She dashed into the bathroom, lips quivering, tears gushing from her eyes.
What had she done?
She threw her disheveled clothes over her body and tiptoed towards the door. Her gaze landed on the man lying on the bed and her breath hitched.
Maddox Vale. Who didn't know Maddox Vale? The most powerful CEO in the country.
She slipped out of the door, lowering down her head enough so her hair could cover her face. She couldn't risk anyone seeing her like this. Even with her dead career.
Her clothes barely covered the marks and her disheveled appearance gave her away.
“You had a nice night” A cleaner whistled as she walked past and she quickened her footsteps.
She had successfully made it to the back door of the hotel when she was pushed to the floor. She raised her face sharply, only to lower her gaze due to the flashes that flickered into her eyes.
Flashes? Camera flashes!
The panic came rushing and she hastily raised her gaze to be met by the unreadable expression of the paparazzi taking pictures with no care to the world.
Her hands trembled as they fought to cover the suggestive marks. By the time she came back to reality and tried to escape, the media had taken up all escape routes and she was trapped before them as they wrote stories about her dirty private life.
She knew she would cover the headlines of today's news but she couldn't care less, her career was already over and there was nothing she could do to save it. And then it hit like huge waves.
Her brother. Dying.
She stood up with shaky legs and bolted through the media, knocking cameras down in her frenzy. Their huge cameras hit her, sending waves of pain crashing on her but she felt numb.
She ran out of the hotel and into the road, flagging down taxis.
“Get in” She jumped into the cab and closed her eyes shut, taking deep breathes.
“Aria” Oh no! She had been caught.
She opened her eyes carefully, peeking at the taxi driver.
She heaved a sigh of relief when the face became cleared. Jade Reyes. Her manager.
“Where are you headed?” She asked.
“The hospital” Aria replied, face-palming herself.
The car came to a stop at the hospital's parking spot and Aria made to alight the car.
“Be careful,” Jade held her back. “People might want to take videos” Aria nodded before getting down.
She kept her gaze on the floor as she walked into the hospital. The elevator ding made her relax and raise her eyes to take a clearer look at her body through the glass mirror.
The marks were becoming darker “A rough night huh?” Her face creased into a frown.
“Actress Aria was seen coming out of Sky hotel this morning, do you think she's being kept?” The news reporter rambled off as she pushed the door to her brother's ward open.
“Aria” Reigns eyes brightened as she walked in. “What's up?” He asked and sat up, patting the edge of the bed.
He switched off the TV and peered at her through his long lashes“Your name is all over the news”
“It's a long story Reigns” She patted his hair.
“I'm not a kid, stop that” Reigns pouted, looking at her with an inquisitive gaze.
“Shorten it” He muttered.
“Got drunk and had s*x with a stranger” Aria blushed as she looked away.
Reigns whistled with a smile “So how was he?”
“You don't get to ask me that” Aria gulped, hitting him lightly on the head.
“Ouch!”
“What's that?” Aria stood up, examining his head.
“Gotcha” He chuckled as he laid back “Mother is worried, she don't…” He sighed and Aria nodded.
“I understand” She looked down on her fingers, picking dirt out of it.
“What are you going to do now?” Reigns asked after a moment.
“I'm not sure yet. Acting is out of the option, I might open up a flower shop or something” Aria breathed out.
“Aria” Reigns called. “You aren't giving up on your dreams, are you?” He held her hands, drawing small circles on them.
“I'm not, I'm just giving it a break. I need something that can provide me money for your hospital bills” She replied.
“And?”
“Reigns, I know what I'm doing” She stated and Reigns nodded looking away.
“Who do you think did this?” He asked after sometime.
“I don't…”
“You know it's her right, she drugged you and…”
“I was drunk Reigns” Aria interrupted.
“You're good at tolerating alcohol. You were clearly drugged” Reigns argued.
“You shouldn't go about saying that, you're just a kid…”
“I'm not a kid. I'm 19. Stop treating me like a kid” Reigns snapped, turning his head away.
“We can't just go up there and accuse her without any evidence?” She sighed but was met by silence. “Reigns, Don't do anything crazy” She added and stood up.
“I would go meet Jade. I think she has something to discuss” Reigns gave a small nod and she left the room.
A hand pulled her into a corner, and another hand covered her mouth. Her face paled and her heart pounded against her chest.
“Stay calm” A voice whispered into her ears. Her body relaxed as she recognized the voice. Jade.
Jade let go of her abruptly and stepped out of the shadows pushing a man to the floor, resulting in his cameras and equipment crashing down.
“Who sent you?” She asked, her voice sent chills down the journalist's spine and he tried crawling away.
One step. Then another.
She took predatory steps towards the man. “I'm not a huge fan of repeating myself so who f*****g sent you?” She asked again, eyes blazing like lasers.
“Claire,” The man trembled. “Claire Blake” He said.
“Out” She spat and he turned around and fled like he had just been freed from
