Chapter Nine
I pace back and forth, trying not to let the magnitude of what we're still facing take over me. I don't want to give up, but there's a big part of me that wants to make a new identity for myself and move far away from Regina, Swanley, and the rest of this mess.
But that goes against everything I've ever wanted. Becoming an agent for the Supernatural Retrieval Agency has been my dream since I was a child. I wanted this life even if I didn't understand everything that came with it.
And none of that has changed. If anything, learning more about the corruption and deceit within the city has convinced me that I want to do this. Even if it makes me want to run away right now.
