Chapter Ten
Why do all the criminal deals happen at night? I know it's supposed to be more discreet, but I don't think it is. Nothing screams doing something dodgy like loitering at the docks and waiting for some other shadowy figure to approach and make a deal. If I was the one running a crime empire, or trying to, then I'd be meeting people during the day instead.
Then again, maybe there's a good reason people don't do that and I can't think of them because I have no desire to become a crime boss. Though perhaps I need to think about it more deeply so I can catch bad guys better.
The radio by my side crackles, calling my attention to it.
"Is everything in place?" Pippa asks.
