Her hell!

“Wake up dummy, we have a busy day ahead,” A bang on the door and the roar of a woman’s voice woke Birdie up from her deep slumber. She groaned and rubbed her eyes. She’d barely slept for three hours. She’s spent almost all the night tending to her wounds and trying to get some sleep despite the pain. She is forbidden from taking painkillers with the excuse that she will get stronger when she learns to endure pain but to Birdie, it is a lie. Pain only breaks you. It doesn’t make you stronger. “ What is it mother? I am supposed to be resting today,” She grumbled, struggling not to go back to sleep. “ Saturdays are my day off, Mother. Just let me sleep a little more or I might die of tiredness,” She drawled, slipping back into a deep slumber. In the next minutes, She gasped and jumped from sleep as cold water drooled down her body, wetting the tiny mattress that she treasures so much. “ Get your ass to your sister’s room and help her prepare for her wedding to the cursed alpha,” Amanda commanded, anger lacing her voice and Birdie furrowed her brows. “ Emily is marrying the cursed alpha? Isn’t he supposed to have a mate?” Birdie asked, curiosity lacing her voice as she brushed water off her face with the back of her hand. “ He is cursed and lost on his werewolf abilities. Without his abilities, be will never recognized his mate so the best thing to do is choose one and a daughter from our family happens to be the unlucky bride,” Bitterness mixed with anger laced Amanda’s voice. Birdie knows how much Amanda loves her daughter Emily and to watch her marry a cursed alpha must be hard. “ Now run along and help Emily prepare for her big day,” Amanda clapped her hands and slammed the door. She was angry. Bet no one wants their daughter to marry a cursed man. But why does she feel like they deserve it? Birdie sighed and sat on the bed. Well with Emily gone, she believes her life will be a little easier. She dried herself and packed her wet bedsheets to hang on the line before heading to Emily’s room. “ What took you so long you stinky b***h?!” Emily flared immediately Birdie stepped inside the room. “ I’m sorry, Emily. I had to quickly put my sheets on the line,” Birdie said in an apologetic tone and walked slowly to where Emily sat in front of the mirror. “ How would you like your hair?” She asked, putting on the black gloves that Emily made available. She has been serving her sister Emily since when she was eight and up till now, Emily had made sure Birdie wear gloves before touching her hair or anything that concerns her. “ I want them in a high ponytail. I want my neck bare and slender,” Emily answered and her phone rang. She immediately swiped the screen, her eyes lifting up in excitement. “ Hello sister,” She squealed, revealing her milkish teeth. Birdie has lost count of how many times their parents had taken Emily to the dentist in other to make her teeth white. “ Is that Emma,” Birdie asked, a glint of light in her eyes and Emily rolled her eyes at her. Birdie understood that look. There was no way Emily was going to let her speak to their eldest sister Emma. “ Nervous? Of course not, mom has everything under control,” Emily grinned as she conversed with Emma on the phone which left Birdie wondering. As someone who will be marrying a cursed hideous man on mask, shouldn't she be sad? Why is she excited? After about two hours of prepping Emily, Birdie’s face wrinkled at the churning of her stomach, reminding her of how empty and hollow it was without food for days. Her eyes caught something on the TV screen and she looked closer. TWELVE KIDS HAVE BEEN REPORTED MISSING OF WHICH EIGHT ARE SUSPECTED TO BE WOFLESS AND FOUR SUSPECTED TO BE WOLF BLOOD. The headline read and Birdie quickly placed her palms over her mouth. Memories of the previous night flashed in her head. She remembered the conversation in the school hallway. She remembered the non-wolf blood being valuable in the market. Could it be, that the pack’s Alpha daughter, is a trafficker? She walked out of Emily’s room in a daze, almost falling down the stairs as she tried to process the news. Entering her room, she sat on the bed for what seemed like an eternity. “ No, the non-wolf blood needs to be protected. The pack’s leader's daughter needs to be stopped,” She mumbled, getting up and rushing to where her bag of clothes sat at the corner of the tiny room. The door opened and Amanda walked in, holding a white dress in her hand and carefully placing it on the bed. “ Have a warm bath and carefully wear this. It's expensive,” Amanda said in the best calm tone Birdie has only heard her talk to her daughter with. Confused, Birdie opened her mouth to ask. “ Why would… you give me something so expen-sive?” she asked, not wanting to fall into any of her stepmom's traps. “ Be in the sitting room in fifteen minutes. Don't keep your father waiting,” Amanda said sternly and left the room, leaving Birdie confused and speechless. What is going on? It was all she could ask herself. Fifteen minutes later, Birdie walked into the sitting room, wearing the dress Amanda gave her. It was a long simple chevron gown with long sleeves that covered all her bruises. Her father turned around and his gaze landed on her face. For a second, he could swear she looked like her mother Evelyn during their high school days. He cleared his throat and the stern look returned to his face. He had never smiled at her as if he would die if he did. “ Your stepmom and Emily are already on their way,” he broke the silence and Birdie swallowed slowly. So the reason she was given a new dress is because they want her to attend Emily’s wedding? “ Am I attending?” She managed to ask and he nodded his head. “ You are coming with me,” he answered. A smile tugged at Birdie's lips at her father’s response. Could this mean, she is now considered family? They've never involved her in any family functions. She was always in the shadow. She hadn't ridden in a car with her father before as he hated having her around. It felt so unreal. She entered the car and sat closer to the window, not wanting to be close to her father as he hated breathing the same air as her. “ You are your mother’s replica,” Birdie shifted uncomfortably in her seat. They've never talked about her mother since the day, he picked her from the streets. He never asked about her and Birdie never mentioned her as well. Before her mother was taken away by the men in red cloaks that night, twelve years ago, her mother made her promise something, a promise that torments Birdie. “ What happened to her?” He asked and for a second, Birdie almost blurted it out as she had always wanted someone to share the event of that night with. “ She… passed away from a… a lung disease,” She answered biting her bottom lip slowly to fight back the tears brimming in her eyes. She hates it anytime she lies that her mother passed away when she could actually be somewhere being held captive. Her father sighed and Birdie never looked at his face for once. He can’t show his remorse now, not after everything he did to her mother. He wasn’t there to protect her. “ Why didn’t she reach out to me? I could have helped with her medications and treatment payment,” “ It doesn’t matter anymore,” Birdie replied, secretly wiping the tears off her face with her fingers. Leaving a fated mate with a baby for the chosen one is one of the greatest betrayals one could ever experience in their lifetime. Her mother must have tried to hide it but deep down, even as a child, Birdie believed she was still suffering from the pain of his betrayal and the destruction of their bond. The car decelerated and Birdie looked outside and saw a grey mansion ahead. News had it that the cursed alpha hated colors so he prefers dull colors and black is his favorite. The car pulled up and Birdie stepped out. She looked around, searching for her stepmom's car but it wasn’t in sight and the venue didn’t look like where a wedding was about to be held. It was too quiet for that. “ let’s go inside and wait for them,” Her father spoke up as if reading her mind. The door was opened by a bodyguard who ushered them into the sitting room. “ Alpha Atlas, Sorry for my tardiness.” Her father bowed his head slowly in apology at the back of the tall man, clothed in black pants and shirt, standing in the room with his back facing them. He eludes a superior aura that could make even alphas fall to their knees. Birdie’s legs trembled at his presence, threatening to give her away, revealing how weak and inferior she was in the presence of this being. Her knees hit the rugged floor and her neck bares in submission. She hated the feeling but it is not something she could fight. “ I present to you, your bride, Aurelia Birdie Nightshade,” her father announced and Birdie’s eyes widened. No, her father must have mistook her name for Emily’s. “ fa-ther,” Birdie croaked, forcing her head up to look her father directly in the eyes for the first time. “ Emily is sick. You are also my daughter and that makes you a perfect candidate. You can fill in for her. You can help your unwell sister. Can’t you, Aurelia Birdie?” Warm tears streamed down Birdie’s face. Why didn’t she think about it? Why they were being nice to her all of a sudden? Why didn’t she ever think about it? She grits her teeth and sees nothing but a heartless and stupid man who is willing to save one daughter by sacrificing the other. “ Welcome to Hell, Aurelia,”
