Eve's Pov:
I get off the bed and look around the unfamiliar room with caution.
This grand luxurious room... all these expensive things... So I wasn't dreaming?
It wasn't a dream last night?
I am really in the Hudson mansion?
I look down at my naked feet, which are carefully wrapped in a bandage.
I look around, and from the carpet under my feet to every small object in this room screams wealth. I feel so unfamiliar and uncomfortable that I can't describe myself.
Everything from last night's conversation starts to come back, and I feel my heart being squeezed in my chest.
Those people... no, I can't trust them. I don't even know them. But if what they said is really true, then what should I do?
Is my life a joke?
After all these years, how can I just accept and play house with them just because they are really my parents and family?
Moreover, they didn't even seem happy to see me last night.
A bitter feeling rises in my chest remembering how those people I called mom and dad for years didn't even hesitate to show any mercy while selling me.
No... I can't trust them. At least not so easily.
I roam around the room and finally find the door. This room is actually so big that it's twice the size of my old house.
I look at the door knob hesitantly before opening the door.
Opening the door, I peek outside softly.
But heavens!
My heart comes to my mouth when I find someone standing right outside the door.
"Good morning, young miss. Do you need anything?" The woman dressed in a staff uniform asks. She is probably in her 30s. Even though she looks young, she has a really gentle vibe.
God! That scared me!
I stand straight and pet my chest gently before shaking my head as a no.
"I was just coming to check on you. Eldest master sent me to call you for breakfast." She says bowing slightly.
My eyes go wide as I step back slightly. "W-hat are you doing, don't bow like this!"
She stands straight and smiles softly. "Young miss is kind, but it's my work. Please allow me to help you dress since you aren't familiar with everything."
I frown, looking at her. "Help me dress? Why would I need help dressing up? What era is this? 17s?"
A snicker comes, and we look at the source to see a dirty blonde-haired girl. She is wearing an expensive-looking dress with her face full of makeup. Her eyes are filled with malice and hate. Last night, she was at least hiding her hate, but she isn't even trying to hide it now.
"Of course you don't understand! Slum people wouldn't understand the meaning of luxury and class!" She says, looking up and down at me as if I am garbage.
What the hell?!
"Well to me it seems like nothing but nonsense. I have hands, and I very well have the ability to dress myself. However, if you don't then nothing wrong in letting others dress you because you do seem like the one who is completely and utterly stupid to a fault!" I say scoffing at her. If she thinks I will just let her insult me like that, I would love to break her illusion.
Her eyes go wide before filling with rage. "You! You ugly pig! What did you just say?!"
Anger bubbles in my chest as I scoff at her words.
Did she just call me an ugly pig?
A pig???
That's too ugly???
Mee???
"Well, guess what? It's better than your face, whose ugliness can't even be hidden with a full bottle of foundation and full makeup!" I say, glaring back at her.
She gasps before glaring daggers at me. Her hands literally shake as she points her finger at me. "You bitc-Why are you so rude to me, sister? I just wanted to help you!" She suddenly says, changing her words.
I watch with my mouth agape as her malicious and angry face changes to a teary and sad expression in seconds. What in the actual hell?
If I didn't know it, then I would have thought someone bullied her.
"What's going on here?" A stern voice says, and I look behind to see the older version of myself.
"Mom! Don't misunderstand, sister didn't mean it like that! It was my fault for pestering my sister even after she asked me to get lost." Emily says, wiping her tears. I watch in shock, and my lips twitch seeing her.
When did I ask her to get lost?
What a waste of such a heavenly talent. She should have been in the entertainment industry, not here.
My said to be mom looks as me and frowns in displeasure. "You just came, but you have already started creating trouble! Don't play your cheap tricks here in our family! Apologise to your sister!"
My heart clenches in my chest as I frown, looking at her. What did she mean by cheap tricks?
"No. Why would I apologise? I didn't say anything wrong, nor did I ask her to get lost. She was the one who provoked me first!"
