Chapter Fifteen

I’ve spent a whole week researching, scanning through book after book, searching through their files—I can’t find a thing. Honestly, I’m not even sure what I’m looking for besides the words ‘hybrid’ or ‘witch’ and it’s putting me in a foul mood. I feel drained and hopeless.
So this morning, I walk into the empty pack library with with a fresh perspective, a full water bottle, and a protein bar, fully prepared to spend a few hours here, but determined that today will be the day I find answers.
I’m wearing yoga pants, a cropped T-shirt, and a sweater—my go-to comfy studying apparel. I grab the books from the shelf that I haven’t started yet—only three remain—and I plop down on the floor, sitting cross-legged, the first book in my lap.
