Chapter Fourteen

I walk into the pack meeting ready and eager to tell everyone about my mate. I’d gone back and forth trying to decide if I needed to do this yet—I mean, Mila could still reject me, after all—but they’ve all seen or heard about her by now, and they all want to know what’s going on. Besides, transparency is one of the things I believe makes me a good leader. I can’t hide my rejection from them if its to happen.
I take a seat next to my Beta at the front on the room. These meetings are a little more relaxed than council meetings, and everyone is sat in folding chairs facing my Zeta, Beta, and myself. I see Delilah and her mother in the crowd. I’d seen Lilah this morning, so it’s not a complete shock seeing her, but every time I do, guilt eats away at me.
