Chapter 10

(Grayson’s POV)

I prepared for my upcoming film's next event the next day. In the hallway, Sophie and Robin were already waiting for me. The following minute, we were all in the car and headed to our location.

“Gray, this is our last event in New York. So, I want you to give your best and in return you can rest for a whole week. This is my gift for you” Sophie said, and as soon as she was done, she was in my arms, and I was giving her a really strong hug. In an instant, all of my tension and exhaustion vanished.

“I love you, I love you, I love you my sweet-devil manager” I excitedly said to her, and she just grinned at the way I was acting and how happy I seemed all over.

“Sometimes, I think you are 5yr old and not 27yr. From where the heck, do you even get all this energy?” She smiled and shook her head as she said that.

“When you say these sweet things, my devil” I gave her a cheek pinch, to which she responded with a playful smack before returning to her tab, which is, in my opinion, more essential than her life.

“Oh, there is a zoo?”...You didn’t tell me?” When we arrived at our destination, I peered out the window to see my favourite spot. When I saw it, my heart melted, and I pouted at Sophie for not telling me about it.

“So that you can just run off there, leaving me infront of all those people that are waiting for us inside and giving me a headache” She murmured, staring right into my eyes. She is obviously aware of my extreme zoo obsession. The ones that can always brighten my life are animals.

“But I want to go!” I literally whined in front of her, putting my hands together and trying to look sad.

“No! And that’s final” She motioned for the bodyguards who were waiting just outside our car to escort me as well before pushing open the door and getting out. I understood that the four hefty men encircling me felt like I was in a cage since they had received this order from my manager.

I walked through the hallway the entire while looking sullen before casting one last glance in the direction of the zoo. I corrected my behaviour when Sophie turned around and gave me one of her most menacing looks, akin to a mother. Everyone was there already when we got inside.

“We are so glad that you could take out some time for us… It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Grayson… We all were waiting for you only, pls proceed” In the chaos caused by the media encircling me for pictures and inquiries, the event organisers contacted me first. I gave them all a friendly greeting before grabbing the ribbon I needed to cut.

During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, everyone applauded the brand's new store opening—of which I am the new ambassador. Everyone entered the store behind me and took in the opulent, expansive space that was before us. It was tastefully designed, with each object arranged under its own category and my pictures shown on the screens that were hung in various locations.

During the hour or so that I spent here, everything was running nicely. While the media was interviewing me for the store's launch, I was taking photos with some of my supporters and organisers. Throughout the entire time, Sophie and Robin were at my side, but occasionally one of the bodyguards might have dragged Sophie into a corner.

“What is the matter?...Sophie, what is it? Tell me” She frowned as soon as she walked up next to me, so I moved her a little away from everyone.

“The information leaked that you are present here and…people in hundreds or more are gathered outside the building to see you…One of the bodyguards told me that it is becoming difficult to tackle them so, police asked us to make a decision otherwise they will have to handle” She informed me, her face plastered with anxious expressions. We both understood that since this was not a public event, the information should not be disclosed; yet, since the incident has occurred, I do need to acknowledge them, even if only briefly.

I asked Sophia if I may meet my followers, and as I went outside to face the building, I noticed not just a hundred people, but many more. The lack of protection and the throngs of people in front of us were starting to worry Sophie. I simply smiled at her and moved forward to welcome them.

As I waved, kissed them hard, and uttered a few kind words to them, they all began shouting my name and expressing their love for me. After a minute or two, I returned to the building as I had promised Sophie, and she sighed.

“I don’t know why I always agree with you. Grayson, you know we can’t make decisions like this instantly and just stand in front of a huge crowd without stable protection…One day, your actions will give me a heart attack”.

“Just relax Sophie, I am a superstar because of my fans and you very well know how much I love and respect them. This stardom I have earned only because of them and even if I have to do stunts like this again…I will surely do it” I smirked and winked at her, but all she did was slap her forehead and shake her head at what I said.

We leave the turmoil behind and wrap up the event before returning to the hotel. The following day, I stayed in my hotel all day because our trip home was leaving at midnight. I had a yearning for hot chocolate fudge from the one and only cafe that I know of sometime in the evening. I put on my hoodie, which was too big on me, and changed into casual attire before hopping in a cab to leave the hotel without letting anyone know who I was.

However, I was unaware that my trip to the cafe would result in significant changes to my life.
