Bee knew she was in trouble. How could she not? She had been made to stand on an ice block for hours, and she was having to stand on her tiptoes to make sure that she did not hang herself. Then, when exhausted, she was cut down and hit over the head. Bee had been too tired to fight, and besides, she wanted to conserve what little energy she had. She had no idea what these sick bursts were planning. The beatings, or "play sessions," as they liked to call them, were brutal. Bee had some of her fingernails and teeth removed. Bee had, of course, screamed at the top of her lungs. She knew that when you are being tortured, it is the only thing you can do.
