Chapter 21: Recovering

1888 Words
Bee woke up in a hospital bed in a room that she did not recognise. She was tied to various machines as well as a drip and a blood transfusion bag. She gingerly tried to sit up, but a shooting pain went up her right thigh. Memories cam flooding back and she lifted her sheet to find her leg very well bandaged. “Ah you are awake!” A familiar voice said and she turned her head to see Viktor sitting in a chair. “Viktor! You are OK!” Bee said before coughing, her throat was so dry. Viktor got up and poured her a cup of water and placed a straw in it. “Now here was me thinking you didn’t care!” Viktor said as he helped the straw to her lips. Bee gratefully took a couple of sips before thanking him. “So fill me in!” Bee said as for comfortable. “Well..you saved me, so thanks for that!” Viktor said “You are welcome!” bee said and Viktor smiled. “Then I pressed the alarm and some first aid people came. The King demanded that you were stabilised and brought to his private hospital in London. You were transported here in a Russian helicopter, by the way.. As soon as you got here you went into surgery and have been out ever since” Viktor said. “Is Grandma and Granddad OK? What about Uncle Frank and the Twins?” Bee said trying to get up. She was worried and very confused! Viktor quickly got up and pushed her down firmly, he didn’t want her to reopened her wounds. He missed out the part where her heart had stopped twice due to blood loss. “Jeez Bee relax! Everyone is fine, though your Uncle almost started a war with Portugal!” Viktor said. “Oh that is good! Where are they?” Bee said sleepily. “They are just talking to the Surgeon and the Doctor. They haven’t left your side and the King an Queen have visited everyday. In fact it has been a non stop line of visitors!”  Viktor said grumpily. “Huh. Well I suppose I will see them soon then. Will you be here when I wake up?” Bee said as she shut her eyes and fell fast asleep. “I always be here for you my friend, now rest” Viktor said softly as he watched her. ================================================ When Bee next woke up her room was packed full of visitors. She tried to sit up, but cursed as she forgot about her leg again. “Don’t move Bee!” Aiden said moving forward to prop her up. “I will get the Doctor, she should not be in any pain!” Kurt growled and he marched out the room clearly unhappy. It was clear to everyone that he had gotten very fond of the little Siren. She had showed courage and integrity. Many people would have left their opponent to drown, but she didn’t. She had risked her life to save Viktor, something his own wife would have done.  “Thank you, but I am fine!” Bee said sleepily. “She says she is fine! Do you hear that Brother?” Ethan said sat in a chair by her bed. “Yes, it is not like she just had serious surgery and has been out for a week!” Aiden said. “A week!” Bee said trying to get up. She had things to do, leading the midsummer festivities being one and Jack’s accounts still needed sorting. “ Woah there! You need to rest or your injury will reopen!” Alannah said  Bee stopped for a minute before putting a hand to her mouth. Tears filled her eyes as she said “Oh God, I am so sorry!”  “Why are you sorry?”  Alannah said surprised “I didn’t win! You will have to give up your first child and it is my fault!” Bee said as she started to sob uncontrollably. She didn’t know if it was the pain, exhaustion or shock from what happened, but she felt terrible and responsible. “Oh Sweetheart, no! You did absolutely the right thing! In fact, your courage has meant that we actually made peace!” Alannah said quickly whilst quickly getting her a tissue for Bee to blow her nose on. “Really? You won’t have to give up your baby?” Bee said as she blew her nose. If she wasn’t so tired, she would be worried how she looked in front of the twins. They looked as handsome as ever and she looked like a sack of s**t tied in the middle. “Yes Bee, really! The old witch backed down!” Ethan said grabbing one of her hands and kissing it. “Show some respect, Anastasia is still my Grandmother!” Alannah snapped “Still an old witch” Ethan muttered making Bee chuckle. “Woah there is a lot of people in here!” A women said as she walked in with Bee’s family in tow. “Well Grace, she is a popular person!” Alannah said with a smile. “Is that why there is a Guard of Black Bears and Sea Gang Members outside?” Grace said raising an eyebrow. She had never seen such a diverse group of Gang people. “Bonny, you are awake!” Rosemary said rushing forward. Alannah moved back, pulling Ethan back with her, in order to make room for Bee’s family. “Sorry!” Bee said in Cornish as her Grandmother hugged her and dried her tears. “You had us so worried child, you lost so much blood!” Rosemary replied, her eyes filled with tears at the memory of her lifeless Granddaughter being taken away. “It will take more then an old Ghost net to get the best of our Granddaughter!” Leonid said in Cornish, pushing past Aiden, who knew better then to stand in his way! Leonid kissed her forehead. “I am sorry, I lost Granddad!” Bee said “Nonsense child, you made us proud!” Leonid said firmly. Bee face broke into a smile and she began to relax a little. She accidentally moved her leg, making her face scrunch in pain. “Right, please make way! I would ask some of you to stand outside, but I know it would be pointless!” Grace said as she made her way to Bee’s bedside before continuing. “Hi there! I am Dr. Grace Lang, I tend to be called in for medical matters when they ranking gang members!” “Lang? You are the Chinese Phoenix!” Bee said surprised. “And you are the Siren, so we both have titles! Shall we leave them at the door? Tell me how you are feeling?” Grace said in a friendly tone. “My leg hurts and I feel ridiculously weak!” Bee moaned.  “It is to be expected as you lost a lot of blood! You were lucky they found you when they did and that Viktor did not take out the metal!” Grace said “Lucky! It was his fault in the first place, if he hadn’t got caught in that net then she would not be here!”  Aiden snapped. “That is unfair Aiden! It could have been either one of us and I know he would have risked his life to save mine. It is what Sea Gang people do!” Bee said tiredly. She hadn’t noticed that Grace had injected something into her drip. Bee felt really light headed, like she was floating. Her eyelids felt heavy and she felt herself falling asleep. “It is just such a shame you missed jumping the coals and finding your true love at Midsummer festival” Rosemary said in Cornish  “Grandma, do not worry - I think I have already found my true loves!” Bee said in English before falling asleep again. “There you go, she is resting like she should be! Now let’s talk treatment plan, shall we?” Grace said “Treatment plan?” Rosemary said “Yes, specifically where is she going to go when she is released? Don’t get me wrong it will be a few days from now, but it is important for us to discus it so preparations can be made” Grace said. “I want to take her back to Cornwall, but I am guessing that is too far?” Rosemary said sadly. “Yes, afraid so. Ideally London will be best, as all the specialists are here”  Grace said practically. “Well that is easy then” Aiden said “She will stay with us!” Ethan said “Yes, we will make sure she is waited on hand and foot!” Aiden said enthusiastically. “That might not be such a bad idea! Apologise, I had to take a call from James and I saw Grace had taken the treatment over.”  Kurt said with a slight frown. There was clearly something disturbing him. Alannah made a mental note to ask him later. “Are you sure you will be able to cope with the responsibility? Caring for a sick person is hard work!” Grace warned. “We have medical training from our time in the Nine Tails and the Mad Dogs” Aiden pointed out. “Plus we know how to work hard! We are deadly serious about Bee, that means being with her in health and  in sickness!” Ethan said. “Well, well, well, this  is a turn up for the books! So it is true? You two have finally fallen in love!” Grace said with a smirk. Ethan and Aiden just made a face at Grace and she laughed. “I don’t know” Lenoid said unsure. “They are officially courting, no one will think it is inappropriate. You two will of course be our guests for as long as you wish” Kurt said  “The King is right, they are courting and she will be close to everything she would need if there was complications” Rosemary said. “Please call me Kurt. If Bee is brave enough to be courted by these two, it makes us practically family!” Kurt said. “Oi! We are a good catch!” Ethan said offended “Yeah, in your dreams!” Grace said with a smirk. “OK, but I will be keeping an eye on you and Bram will be involved in the security” Lenoid said. Alannah and the Twins expected Kurt to say no about the security condition, but everyone surprise Kurt said “Certainly!” Alannah and Grace shared a quick look….they definitely knew something was up!  ==================================    Thank you so much for reading!
