Prologue
The fae used be an elvish species before the rebellious elves fled and found companionship with the fairies and bore fae kin. There were many similarities between the two kinds, but the differences were also very evident. Elves were taller and had pointed ears, very graceful creatures that moved at unnatural speeds. The fae had shorter, rounded ears, and at the time bore wings of their own. The differences the fae had between the elves and the fairies set them apart, thus becoming a new species entirely.
The elves agreed to take the fae in, and they lived amongst one another in harmony under the rule of their fae king and elvish queen. However, despite the peace between the two races, there were still groups amidst them that despised the opposing race. The elves still considered themselves the superior species, and the fae nothing more than the unprecedented offspring of their disgraceful ancestors.
One night a huge war broke loose, forcing the elves and fae to turn on one another. The king and queen had no choice but to separate and fight for their kinsfolk. The war burned on for months without end, scourging the lands in blood. No victory was declared on either side as they fought to their remaining soldiers. Forcing to retreat, the king and queen took what was left of their kingdoms and parted as far as the east was from the west. Left to rebuild what was left of their empires.
As time passed by, their kingdoms rose to empires, bent on taking the revenge they desperately longed for, to avenge the fallen. As the years progressed the fae lost their wings as they lost the magic that coursed through their veins supplied by the elves. Their kind soon became known as a hatful race, as dark clouds hovered above their kingdom. They quickly had to adapt to their new way of life and became stealthy, deadly creatures of the night.
The elves on the other hand never had to adjust to drastic changes. Living in harmony with one another came naturally. It was their way of life. Their magic grew stronger as they moved deep into the enchanted forest. The very air they breathed was practically magic. They cared for the forest as it cared for them, and it became a cycle, the forest provided for them and they provided for the forest.
