Charles had gone undetected so far, but he didn’t know how much longer it would hold up. There were too many people coming and going from the main ranch house. He had managed to dodge James in his comings and goings. He had left no clues for Claire or Luke to find, but he wasn’t sure if his luck would hold up much longer. He was going to have to step up his timetable if things were going to play out like he was determined they were.
Charles had learned from his last escapee that Elizabeth would be gone for the next two days. That’s when he would make his move. With her out of the house, then it would be easy and there would be no witnesses. It was perfect. It left his two prey inside by themselves. He would bet his life on Luke not leaving Claire alone since he hasn’t since the accident.
